Job Description

The Plumbing Engineer works closely with more experienced engineers and assists in the development of Plumbing deliverables. Thisindividual is expected to execute work on one or more intermediate level tasks simultaneously as delegated by the Lead or Sr. Plumbing Engineer. This role will have the ability to successfully support all phases of design including planning, feasibility, scope and concept development, detailed design, construction documentation, and construction administration.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with client and external partners required
  • Develop construction drawing packages and write construction specifications on basic projects of limited complexity with oversight
  • Participate and contribute to squad and overall commitment to producing quality deliverables
  • Provide mentorship to Plumbing Designer I
  • Participate in basic project system design programming and master planning with support from lead or Senior Engineer
  • Execute work on one or more intermediate level tasks simultaneously as delegated by the Lead or Sr. Plumbing Engineer
  • Delegate some basic and fundamental tasks to Entry-Level and Design staff
  • Successfully support all phases of design including planning, feasibility, scope and concept development, detailed design, construction documentation, and construction administration.
  • Work closely with more experienced engineers and assists in the development of Plumbing deliverables
  • Basic support of construction activities such as RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch list development, and construction progress reports
  • Developing and expanding their ability to coordinate effectively with other disciplines, delegate, interact with clients, and manage scopes of work and deliverables.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in Plumbing Engineering (alternatively, a Bachelor’s in Architectural
  • Engineering with Plumbing Option)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience required, preferably in a design firm setting
  • Fundamentals of Engineering Exam completion or pursuit

Additional Qualifications

  • Proficiency AutoCAD and Revit required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
  • LEED, WELL, or other sustainable design accredited professional preferred
  • Basic experience with performing engineering calculations, and developing and implementing plumbing sanitary waste drainage, venting, storm water and service piping systems designs required
  • Basic experience with the Plumbing/mechanical/fire codes, generically stated required
  • Basic experience with other applicable industry standards required
  • Basic experience with applicable building codes required
  • Basic experience conducting and leading field surveys of existing conditions and support of field reporting required
  • Proficient with basic internal and external cross-discipline project team coordination required
  • Proficient with basic coordination with construction trade partners, vendors, and manufacturers required
  • Proficient at basic plumbing fixture & drainage unit calculations, storm water design calculations under supervision of a Lead or Senior Engineer required
