Role Summary: The Power Electronics Engineer role will be responsible to understand VW Group's strategic R&D projects with an eye toward advancing them to the next level. This role is also responsible to carry out strategic technology development through partnerships for electrification. This role will be part of a team building Proof of Concepts and interfacing with both internal and external partners. This role is based in our Innovation Hub Knoxville, TN. The focus areas of Innovation Hub Knoxville include and not limited to advanced materials and power electronics for sustainable mobility. Role Responsibilities: • Collaborate with project team to develop functional, validation and characterization test procedures for HV components • Operate HV test benches and perform test in accordance with test plan • Design systems with architectures and interfaces that safely and effectively meet requirements • Support the development and optimization of high voltage components • Contribute to complex, electrical-mechanical-software-controls engineering efforts • Systematically track the most current and innovative technology trends • Work closely with engineers in order to asses and summarize new technologies and innovations • Work closely with suppliers and test labs to plan and track the progress Education and Skills Requirements • Masters in Electrical Engineering or equivalent • 3+ years of industry experience or equivalent • Strong power electronics fundamentals • Chip packaging technologies • Parasitic simulation • Wide bandgap power electronics, simulation tools, design & validation • Electro-magnetic power conversion • 2D/3D magnetic field simulation, design & validation • Automotive HV system engineering • Integration of people, processes & systems • Excellent verbal and writing skills • Strong networking and relationship building abilities • Effective time management skills, including prioritizing and managing multiple tasks • Experience in developing personal work plans and goals • Ability to work effectively in a highly dynamic and diverse environment • Technology evaluation methods Education and Skills Requirements • Masters in Electrical Engineering or equivalent • 3+ years of industry experience or equivalent • Strong power electronics fundamentals • Chip packaging technologies • Parasitic simulation • Wide bandgap power electronics, simulation tools, design & validation • Electro-magnetic power conversion • 2D/3D magnetic field simulation, design & validation • Automotive HV system engineering • Integration of people, processes & systems • Excellent verbal and writing skills • Strong networking and relationship building abilities • Effective time management skills, including prioritizing and managing multiple tasks • Experience in developing personal work plans and goals • Ability to work effectively in a highly dynamic and diverse environment • Technology evaluation methods In Knoxville, Tennessee, the salary range for this role is $70000 - $95000, depending on education and experience. #LI-CK1 #LI-Hybrid #Dice- ID: #49063624
