Power System Specialist for eVTOL Project (Remote)

Summary:Be a leader in an innovative, ground-breaking, eVTOL project for a global automotive giant, based in Southern California. Help lead the engineering team to success by developing a high voltage power system that meets the same criticality as fly-by-wire flight control systems. Experience in areas such as high-power voltage, electric motors, power conversion, motor control for high power electric motors, battery technologies, working with lithium-ion batteries and/ or Arc Vault would be beneficial. Ideal candidates will have around 10 years of experience in these areas, working on all-electric aircrafts, commercial aircrafts and/ or military power systems aircrafts.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Power Supply System (PSS) development for the entire eVTOL project including:
  • System Functions (all levels)
  • System Requirements (all levels)
  • System Architecture (all levels)
  • System Integration
  • Safety Design (all levels)
  • Certification Basis / Plan
  • Analysis Review
  • ICDs
  • V&V
  • Drawing Signoff
  • Compliance Checklist (CCL)
  • Supplier selection and management
  • Product plan/ schedule Development, milestones, and weekly priority management
  • Control and manage 800-volt DC power.
  • Establish full certification basis (e.g., all applicable FAA and EASA regulations and Special Conditions) and the various level of system requirements to support the PSS and architecture development in accordance with ARP4754A.
  • Your experience in electrical power system development will allow you to give the technical leadership for the projects high voltage and low voltage power system development.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to your team.

Requirements:
  • 10-15+ years’ experience working in an aircraft development and certification projects with design experience in both high and low voltage electrical power systems.
  • Aircraft and power experience on aircrafts or industries such as: commercial aircrafts, eVTOL or hybrid aircraft projects, military and/ or submarines.
  • Expert level knowledge of high and low voltage aircraft electrical power systems, battery technologies and power conversion.
  • Capability to establish PSS certification basis, requirements, and architecture.
  • Strong knowledge of ARP4754A, ARP4761, DO-160, DO-178, DO-254.
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in applicable engineering field.

Bonus Skillsets:
  • Experience working with high-power voltage, electric motors, power conversion, motor control for high power electric motors, battery technologies, lithium-ion batteries, and Arc Vault.
  • EMI/EMC and EWIS development.
  • Hybrid electrical power system experience.
