The Mobile Network Analysis and Performance team are responsible for Mobility network usage analytics, performance monitoring, and demand forecasting, driving AT&T's multibillion-dollar network capital plan to ensure the optimal allocation of investments. We utilize advanced analytics and leading-edge forecast modeling methods to provide network usage analytics, pricing and policy decision support, network usage forecasting and capacity planning, and network performance tracking.

In this role, working closely with other data scientists, product managers, and network engineers, you will be responsible for analyzing and forecasting subscriber data usage, and the impact of new marketing initiatives, technologies, and applications on usage patterns. Marketing programs will be refined based on your analyses, and your insights and forecasts will influence decisions made by the Network, Finance, and Strategy organizations, and Senior Leadership. You'll use advanced skills in the use of predictive modeling, statistical analysis, and other data analysis techniques to collect, explore, and identify the right data to be analyzed from internal and external sources to solve a variety of analytical problems.

Preferred locations are Atlanta, GA; Dallas, TX; or El Segundo, CA; however, his role can be at any U. S. location.

Responsibilities:
  • Subscriber Usage Modeling and Forecasting Estimate the impact of marketing initiatives and new network technologies on subscriber data consumption behavior utilizing advanced modeling methods such as time series statistical methods, machine learning, and simulation.
  • Network Usage Capacity Planning Develop device and data usage forecasts used to estimate required network capacity and drive AT&T's multi-billion-dollar capital plan.
  • Software Development Design, implement and operate a forecast support system that will orchestrate cross-functional forecasting activities and data sources to produce forecasts on demand.
  • Network Performance Analysis and Reporting Share insights with senior executives and other stakeholders via advanced visualization, business intelligence, and presentation tools.

Education:
  • Masters of Science in Computer Science, Math or Scientific Computing; Data Analytics, Machine Learning or related field preferred

The background of the successful candidate includes:
  • 8+ years related experience in advanced analytics, big data, relational and no-SQL technologies, research methods, sampling techniques, and system testing.
  • 5+ years related experience in advanced forecasting: time-series (ARIMA, Bayesian, hierarchical), causal (regression, GARCH, machine learning, probabilistic programming), and systems (agent-based models, system dynamics).
  • Accomplished programmer with deep expertise in at least one language primarily relevant to the field, advanced SQL, and related aspects of software design and implementation.

This experience would be a GREAT benefit:
  • Experience developing Forecast Support Systems, or functionally similar systems is a big plus.
  • Software development: software engineering/architecture, ETL pipelines, Azure or AWS ecosystem, and DevOps.
  • Familiarity with the AT&T wireless network infrastructure and the wireless industry in general.
