Principal Software Engineer - Developer Tools

ABOUT THE ROLE:We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer for the Developer Tools teams who will provide both technical and team expertise and leadership. A Principal Software Engineer is an individual contributor technical leadership role. As such, skills both on and off the keyboard are required.The work of the role includes articulating a vision and developing a strategy for the future of the services, tools, and processes that enable the NBCU software developer community. This includes working in consultation with the existing Developer Tools teams, the broader NBCU developer population, and engineering leadership to deliver the best services, tools, and processes. They will be responsible for developing relationships and brokering alignment between teams and across the NBCU organization. And they will also work with engineering leadership to ensure development teams are appropriately equipped with the skills and tools required to perform their job effectively. The ideal candidate will have respect for the past while also respectfully challenging what we do today to improve how we do it tomorrow.If you are well versed in engineering preferred practices and innovative methods for software delivery, share knowledge, learn from others, and ready to help build a culture focused on cloud-first, security by design, and platform APIs, we are looking for you.REQUIREMENTS:8+ years of professional software development experienceTrack record of introducing new processes and/or tools to improve software delivery or team functionWell-versed in methods for ensuring the delivery of architecturally sound and secure softwareSignificant knowledge and experience working with cloud services and architectural patterns, including serverless and event-driven design patternsDemonstrated ability to ideate, plan, and lead new engineering effortsDemonstrated ability to develop a vision and inspire other engineers to achieve successful deliveryDemonstrated ability to develop strategy among members of different functional backgrounds. Eg. People leadership, Product, and BusinessDemonstrated customer focus and engagement about software deliveryDemonstrated success working in a large, multifaceted, and matrixed organization Provided mentorship to grow the technical skills and careers of others with consideration of their career stage and personal trajectoryAbility to communicate effectively depending on the audience technical teams, business teams, and leadership teams
