Job Description: As a member of the Information Technology Services (ITS) Project Management Office, this position will act as a technical project manager under the general direction of management and will utilize standard project management practices and tools in the delivery of technical projects. They must demonstrate strong analytical skills, provide team leadership, and utilize prescribed techniques to deliver a variety of technical project types, sizes and criticalities. They will possess the ability to lead and manage projects using Waterfall, Agile Scrum, and hybrid methodologies. This position is classified as remote with occasional visits to campus as necessary to perform the job duties. Working hours will be based on Pacific Standard Time (PST). This position is a two-year CONTRACT position with a maximum annual budgeted salary of $102,500. As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California SARS-CoV-2(COVID-19) Vaccination Program Policy. All Covered Individuals under the policy must provide proof of Full Vaccination or, if applicable, submit a request for Exception (based on Medical Exemption, Disability, and/or Religious Objection) or Deferral (based on pregnancy) no later than the applicable deadline. For new University of California employees, the applicable deadline is eight weeks after their first date of employment.

Description% Time

Implements the project management process in support of products and services involving departmental or cross-functional teams. Monitors and reports on project progress from initiation through delivery, including oversight of system integration, project and campus, medical center or Office of the President communications, interaction with vendors and managing risk. Creates project proposals and reports.

  • The project manager defines and tracks project milestones while developing, maintaining, and reporting on an overall integrated delivery plan. They manage and mitigate all projects issues and risks. Throughout the lifecycle of each project, the project manager reports project status and continually updates relevant stakeholders.

Assembles and directs moderate to large project teams, designs project plans and schedules and monitors budget and resources. Directs the activities of the project with the goal of completing the project on schedule and within budget constraints.

  • The project manager develops the project charter, integrated project plan, resource plan, contingency plan, and related project management artifacts. They build, lead, and coach multiple project teams throughout project lifecycles. They plan, execute, and deliver all projects on time, in budget, and within scope in accordance with defined business priorities.

Applies professional project management and IT concepts and department/unit and campus, medical center or Office of the President policies and procedures to manage complex projects. 10

The project manager partners with business partner(s) to define project scope, business case, risks and assumptions. They represent the project in various governance and inter-departmental forums.10
