Plans, coordinates, and creates a variety of informational media to present regional center services to the community, ensures successful development and completion of the performance contract.
Develops concepts and makes creative recommendations on presenting regional center's services and mission to the community. Assumes full responsibility for researching, writing, editing reader-friendly service brochures, newsletters, annual reports, multi-media presentation scripts, speeches, press releases, media packets, papers. Guides other staff members in writing articles. Gathers, creates, and approves visual media.
Works with departmental subject matter experts to research and identify training, education and developmental resources for employees, consumers, families and the community.
Arranges and oversees the Agency's legislative and community outreach efforts. Prepares reports and presentations for the Agency and assigned committees of the Board of Trustees.
Ensures successful development of the agency performance contract. Monitors goals for timely completion, prepares management reports on outcomes.
Oversees web site design and operation, assists in creation and maintenance of intranet.
Surveys agency information needs, surveys best practices of other service agencies, identifies new opportunities for social media outreach, develops long and short range information plans. Develops, tracks, and adheres to timelines and budgets. Creates reports on unit activities.
Oversees the agency's libraries and works with Family Focus Resource Center staff to coordinate library activities and operations.
Participates on the management team. Assumes leadership on special projects. Selects, trains, directs and evaluates assigned staff. Serves as support to assigned Board committees.
CompensationThis position is exempt. Regular Salary: $84,257.00 - $113,746.96Education & Experience
A Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Organization Development, or a related field with three to five years of related experience OR
Bachelor's degree in an unrelated field with five to seven years of related experience
Skills and Abilities
Writing, editing, and prooing, attention to detail, creativity, artistic sense, verbal and written communications. Needs assessment, group facilitation, and program planning.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work well independently under pressure of multiple deadlines and by prioritizing multiple work responsibilities.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
Essential Requirements
Project management, publication design and development, social media strategies, web site design, accessibility and maintenance, desktop publishing, graphics, general computer usage, supervisory principles and practices.
Understanding of the Regional Center system, developmental disabilities, and service standards.
Valid California Driver's License and reliable transportation, or acceptable substitute, required.
Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.
