Job Summary:The Quality Technician is responsible for performing failure analysis of devices to support post-market initiatives. The Quality Technician will work with members of the team to perform the timely, safe, and organized receipt, analyses, and documentation of returned product. Analysis may also be performed on engineering samples/prototypes as required.This role will interface with key members of the quality organization and will collaborate with internal peers, engineers, and managers.

Essential Functions:
  • Set up and maintain system/station that supports the evaluation of devices to include essential equipment and materials necessary.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve procedures for device failure analysis
  • Perform timely, methodical failure analyses of devices. Use of systematic and safe approach in evaluating cause of failures with goal of preserving unit for potential additional assessments.
  • Work with external laboratories to perform additional processing of samples as required.
  • Confirm reported failures and/or document observations along with results of failure analyses.
  • Maintain a catalog of failure causes and device specimens for further use.
  • Provide new product development and sustaining product manufacturing teams feedback on failure causes/trends.

Essential Qualifications (includes education, background, skills, and expertise)

:The person in this role should possess the following experience, abilities and attributes:
  • High School Diploma
  • Basic understanding of Electrical Engineering/Circuit Analysis
  • Experience with failure analysis of miniature electro-mechanical devices
  • Experience working with test instruments and tools like multimeter, power supplies etc.
  • Technical writing/failure analysis documentation experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desirable Skills:
  • A strong background in healthcare and medical device industry
  • Sample cross-sectioning, metallurgical analysis, and photo documentation experience
  • Familiarity with CAD/Solidworks
  • Design FMEA exposure
  • Experience drafting troubleshooting guides
