Job Description: Flowserve is seeking an undergraduate mechanical engineering student to work part-time in Temecula, CA, where we develop IoT (Internet of Things) solutions for centrifugal pump and mechanical seal systems. The Intern will receive competitive compensation and practical hands on experience working side-by side with Flowserve R&D engineers, and learning about the industrial applications of IoT, and mechanical seals. Technical areas of interest include algorithm development, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, statics and dynamics, materials, and laser manufacturing. The position will start in January 2022, and the hours will be TBD based on class schedule, during week-day business hours.

Requirements
  • Mechanical Engineering Bachelor's Degree in-progress required, currently in junior or senior year.
  • Work on projects involving physical inspections, lab tests, calculations, research to ensure the most effective development of algorithms for condition monitoring and fault diagnosis/prognosis of centrifugal pump and mechanical seal systems
  • Program and debug numerical methods for algorithms for pump and seal systems based on test data and physical models
  • Participate in test projects, assist in documentation
  • Collaborate with others to explore approaches, methods, and conclusions
  • Apply knowledge of fluids, statics and dynamics, heat transfer, materials, etc. to solving problems
  • Use precision measuring tools in physical inspections
  • Read and interpret engineering drawing and mechanical blueprints
  • Perform fluid and structural modeling to facilitate predictive algorithm development.
  • Must be currently enrolled as a student at a university within driving distance of Temecula, California.
  • Must be able to demonstrate legal right to work in the United States
  • Understanding of statics, dynamics, material science, machine design, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and statistical analysis.
