Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Property Caretaker to oversee the day-to-day operations of a 350-acre ranch in the scenic Napa Valley. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in property management, equipment operation, and livestock care. This role requires a hands-on approach, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while coordinating with specialty vendors and contractors.

Responsibilities:

Livestock Care:

- Feed and water a herd of goats and sheep.

- Move and maintain fencing for grazing management.

- Monitor animal health and coordinate with veterinarians as needed.

Defensible Space and Land Maintenance:

- Operate equipment such as tractors, mowers, and brush cutters for tree and brush clearing.

- Ensure the property complies with fire safety standards and defensible space requirements.

Trail and Landscape Management:

- Maintain and repair mountain bike trails to ensure safe and enjoyable use.

- Mow grass and manage general landscaping needs.

Handyman and Repair Projects:

- Perform routine repairs and maintenance on property structures, equipment, and infrastructure.

- Address miscellaneous issues as they arise, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry projects.

Vendor Coordination:

- Schedule and oversee specialty vendors and contractors for services such as pest control, tree removal, and irrigation system repairs.

- Ensure quality work and completion of projects within timelines.

Property Operations:

- Maintain equipment and tools, ensuring they are in proper working order.

- Assist in other tasks necessary to operate and maintain a large estate property.

Qualifications:

- Experience in ranch/property management or a related field.

- Proficiency in operating and maintaining farm equipment (e.g., tractors, mowers, brush cutters).

- Basic handyman skills including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general repairs.

- Strong organizational and communication skills (proficient English and Spanish is preferred).

- Ability to work independently and make decisions under minimal supervision.

- Physical ability to perform tasks requiring heavy lifting, manual labor, and outdoor work in various weather conditions.

- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (CDL preferred but not required).

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with mountain bike trail maintenance.

- Knowledge of fire safety practices and defensible space requirements.

- Familiarity with irrigation systems and landscaping.

- Basic knowledge of livestock care and grazing management.
