Registered Nurse, Oncology / BMT

Position Overview:The Registered Nurse has primary accountability for patient outcomes. As leader of the patient care team, the RN delegates, supervises and participates in patient care delivery. The RN coordinates care across all disciples, in collaboration with medical staff. The RN will function within the full scope of licensure, implement the nursing process to include the following: to assess patient and family needs; develop a plan of care based on assessment; coordinate and direct patient care in implementation of the plan of care; and, review and evaluate the effectiveness of the plan of care. The RN ensures the physiological, psychosocial, safety, learning, rehabilitative, spiritual, cultural and self-care needs of patients and their families are addressed. The RN will function in the charge nurse role as assigned per unit.Qualifications:Education, Licensure and Certification Qualifications:Graduate of an accredited registered nurse program.

Current California RN license or interim permit.

Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS-HCP), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred in specialty areas.

Experience Qualifications:Acute care experience preferred.

Experience in area of clinical specialty preferred.

Skills and Knowledge Qualifications:Knowledge of nursing process in the assessment of physical and psychological needs of patients and their significant others.

Aware of adult learning principles in providing teaching of patients and their significant others.

Demonstrate basic nursing skills

Department Specific Requirements:Chemotherapy class within 6 months of hire.

Completion of Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) training and competency within 6 months of hire.

ACLS within 6 months of hire.
