Position Overview

We’re looking for a warm, enthusiastic Part-Time Retail Sales Associate to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about knitting or crochet, enjoys engaging with people, and thrives in a collaborative, creative environment. As one of the first faces our customers will meet, you’ll help create a welcoming experience, connect people with the right tools and materials, and share in our vision of reviving the timeless joy of making.

Responsibilities:

-Greet and assist customers with warmth and attentiveness

-Share product knowledge and demonstrate enthusiasm for our curated selection of heirloom-quality tools, yarns, and home goods

-Support customers with knitting and crochet questions, offering guidance on fibers, tools, and project ideas

-Operate the POS system with accuracy and efficiency (sales, returns, gift cards, etc.)

-Maintain store appearance: restocking, organizing displays, and keeping the space tidy and inviting

-Assist with merchandising, seasonal displays, and workshop materials setup

-Participate in in-store events and workshops to foster community connection

-Communicate customer feedback, inventory needs, and ideas for improving the shop experience to the team

-Uphold Gather’s values of craftsmanship, sustainability, and community in every interaction

Experience & Qualifications:

-Knitting or crochet skills required (comfortable assisting beginners and engaging with fellow makers)

-Previous retail sales experience, preferably in specialty or boutique environments

-Strong love of the practical arts (gardening, cooking, fiber arts, fermentation, etc.) and excitement for Gather’s mission

-Excellent communication skills — friendly, approachable, and clear when sharing knowledge

-Collaborative spirit and willingness to pitch in as part of a small, supportive team

-Detail-oriented with the ability to balance multiple tasks in a busy retail setting

-Flexible availability, including weekends and occasional evenings for events
