Description of Basic Function and Responsibility

To participate in the pickup of sealed medical waste containers and delivery of product to various customers within a designated route area. Drivers receive direct supervision from the Driver Supervisor or others within a framework of standard policies and procedures.

Home every night

Monday - Friday day shifts

Earned paid vacation and sick time off

Shift starts and ends in Hayward, CA

Essential Job Functions

- Obtains routing information for the day.

- Loads truck with empty tubs and other products required for delivery.

- Unloads truck with tubs collected on the daily route and places them in the designated area and reconciles the count.

- Performs safety and operational inspection of vehicle before and after route.

- Drives the truck within a prescribed route in accordance with the daily routing schedule, servicing the customers based on the daily route sheet.

- Maintains accurate tub counts and inputs proper information into PDA

- Maintains vehicle in clean and safe operating condition, notifying appropriate personnel of any mechanical repairs.

- Operates in a safe and efficient manner.

- Attends various meetings regarding safety, training updates, etc. as required.

Employment Standards

Requires ability to:

- Operate a handheld computer in relation to driver responsibilities (we will train drivers to operate this computer.)

- Read and write English at a level sufficient to perform required duties.

- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.

- Perform basic math and reasoning skills.

- Maintain accurate records.

- Meet physical requirements for performance of assigned duties.

- Operate a variety of machines and equipment including pallet jacks, fork lifts, hand trucks, etc.

- Establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.

- Sufficient vision to read printed material, see distant objects with clarity, judge distances and spatial relationships, and identify and distinguish objects.

- Sufficient hearing to hear conversations in person and on the telephone, and hear sounds clearly up to twenty feet.

- Ability to speak in an understandable voice with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversation and on the telephone.

- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

- This type of work requires occasional or frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, twisting, reaching, climbing, and kneeling for 90% of the time.

- Sufficient manual dexterity and/or mobility to grasp and/or manipulate objects, operate mechanical equipment, drive a motor vehicle, and move about the work area.
