Job Description

The incumbent is responsible for reading, evaluating and summarizing scientific literature and conference presentations on potential drug targets and technologies for oncology drug discovery. This individual works with the scientific strategy team to prioritize new targets and may work with external organizations to carry out target validation and identification of small molecule inhibitors.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct in depth reading and review of scientific literature relevant to oncology drug target identification and validation. Prepare written and oral reports that succinctly summarize large bodies of literature and make recommendations on prioritization of potential drug targets. Stay abreast of developments in the external scientific community by attending scientific and business conferences. Review publicly available genomic dataset and identify novel oncology drug targets

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: Education: Ph.D. in cancer biology/molecular/cellular biology/bioinformatics or related discipline and two to four years of related experience

Experience: Industry research experience in targeted therapy in oncology, cellular signaling or related field Prior involvement in small molecule discovery programs Research accomplishments demonstrated by strong publication record. Experience in bioinformatics and/or analysis of large datasets preferred. Experience in due diligence process/external target evaluation is a plus.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Highly developed scientific analytical skills, able to critically assess, integrate and synthesize broad areas of scientific research from diverse sources to develop specific recommendations. Constantly and effectively surveys publicly available scientific materials and presents information to management and collaborators in a concise manner Detailed understanding of state-of-the-art molecular biology techniques, including CRISPR/Cas9 editing. Familiarity with public databases and websites relevant to oncology Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment and on cross-functional teams JOB COMPLEXITY: Complex, involving critical input into decisions that can profoundly impact the company Uses professional concepts in accordance with company objectives to solve complex problems in creative and effective ways
