Perform month-end close activities, including preparing and posting journal entries, analyzing variances, and drawing conclusions from available data.Assist in completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.Lead the preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and develop follow-up action plans to resolve reconciling items.Analyze accounting transactions, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy and completion, and provide variance explanations.Apply judgement and expertise to ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.Assist in workload planning to ensure coverage and timely completion of tasks.Identify and resolve issues independently, escalating to management as necessary.Supervise, train, and coach less experienced team members, providing guidance on day-to-day activities, career development, and technical accounting matters.Take ownership of more complex accounting tasks, such as 1031 exchanges, and serve as a mentor to junior team members.Develop subject matter expertise for legal entities supported by the corporate accounting team.Actively contribute to process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the corporate accounting team’s operations.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including FP&A, treasury, and tax, to support organizational objectives.Identify improvement opportunities and apply best practices to the team’s processes to drive efficiency.Play a key role in special projects and ad hoc requests such as supporting the year-end audit, internal financial reporting, compliance initiatives, and tax filings.Assist in the preparation of annual tax packages and personal property tax filings.Cross-train in different areas of the Corporate Accounting department in order to serve as backup as needed.
