Job Title: Senior Accounting Analyst

Employment Type: Contract

Hybrid Model : Come to office based in San Francisco, CA on Tuesdays & Wednesdays and remote rest of the days

Description: Responsible for analyzing data and calculating and posting accounting entries for the Mortgage Partnership Finance (MPF®) portfolio. The MPF portfolio consists of mortgage loans that we have acquired from our members. Responsible for preparing and reviewing financial reports for inclusion in the Bank’s regulatory reporting (e.g., the Bank’s 10K/10Q and regulatory agencies).

Primary Responsibilities:

Accounting for the MPF portfolio:• Reconcile and review the daily MPF loan accounting transactions from other location. Perform reasonability checks and reconciliations to ensure accuracy.• On Monthly Remittance Day, reconcile principal and interest payments and credit enhancement fees. Reconcile and facilitate the transfer of funds for principal and interest payments to/from other branch.• Prepare journal entries for various income and expenses related to the MPF Program, including month end journal entries to record nonperforming loans, loan loss reserves, charge offs and real-estate owned accounting.• Record the monthly amortization of the premium/ discounts.• Perform monthly General Ledger certification package and research and resolve discrepancies.• Primarily related to the MPF portfolio, prepare the Bank’s monthly, quarterly, and year-end regulatory financial reports with supporting documentation. Ensure that the reports are accurate, timely, and complies with internal and external reporting requirements.• Update procedures and internal controls documentation.• Assist with audit requests and compliance reviews. Provide ad hoc reporting as needed.

Skills/Knowledge:• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required. Strong working knowledge of balance sheet, income statement, trial balances and journal entries.• Minimum of five-year’s experience in accounting/portfolio accounting, including financial reporting preparation, is preferred. Direct work experience with mortgage securities accounting is preferred.• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience with variance analysis and reconciliations. Consistent excellence with quality of work performed.• Strong interpersonal, organization, and work prioritization skills. Proactive in preparing for upcoming deadlines.• Proficiency with MS Access is required. Two years of direct experience with database logic. Ability to mine an existing database and use financial and accounting concepts to prepare financial analysis, calculations, and reports as the basis of accounting entries and for informational purposes highly desired.• Advanced MS Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, NPV, IRR, etc.) is required.• Working knowledge of Adobe, Oracle SQL Developer, Crystal Reports, and Business Objects is preferred.• Proficiency with other software programs, such as Workday accounting or other accounting and financial applications is helpful.• Ability to communicate effectively, both in written form and verbally.
