Job Description

The Senior Education Coordinator provides a unique cross-functional position among the company as it requires highly collaborative efforts with multidisciplinary clinical departments. The Senior Education Coordinator demonstrates good judgement, sound analysis and decision making in a timely manner, the ability to remain professional and composed under pressure, and to communicate effectively across all levels and functions in a team environment. Additionally, the Senior Education Coordinator supports the Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist (CGMBS) Trainee Program that prepares candidates to become future clinical lab scientists.

The Senior Education Coordinator leads the Education team with daily functions, including clinical onboarding, continuing education, training and competency coordination, and auditory monitoring. The Senior Education Coordinator complies with all applicable local, state and federal laboratory requirements and operates under the direction of the Laboratory Director. The Senior Education coordinator ensures competencies are upkept per regulatory requirements, as well as manage projects and meet project deliverables to provide process improvements and quality training standards.

  • Coordinates the staff training, competency assessment and continuing education programs. Including:
  • Monitors and reviews of the current clinical training program;
  • Developing, implementing , and sustaining process improvements to maintain an effective training program;
  • Identifying initiatives for future needs;
  • Ensure that training documentation meets regulatory requirements (CLIA, CAP, NYS and applicable state requirements) and complies with company Quality Management System;
  • Coordinate learning opportunities through PACE accreditation;
  • Maintain and develop written procedures to document all aspects of training program;
  • Maintain and upkeep staff training, competency and continuing education files for internal and external audits; and
  • Monitor staff competency and ensure all documentation is complete and provide status update to the Laboratory Supervisors.
  • Act as lead when manager is unavailable.
  • Lead the team in day-to-day operations, activities, and challenges.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed and comprehensive knowledge of all laboratory workflows including but not limited to process theory training and workflow overview;
  • Coordinate with departmental training team and assist with hands-on training of the Clinical Operations, including but not limited to providing guidance and mentorship to the trainers on the fundamentals of teaching and learning styles;
  • Provide one-on-one interactions with new hires to provide a comprehensive, consistent and effective training program;
  • Conduct orientation and coordinate training for new employees, contractors and interns;
  • Support the CGMBS Trainee Program, including:
  • Working with affiliate training program director and affiliate education coordinators;
  • Coordinate candidates interview; and
  • Monitoring and reviewing progress of trainees and provide training documents and status reports to Education Manager.
  • Assist in Internal and External Audits;
  • Organization and maintenance of the eQMS system that houses training documentation.
  • Provide laboratory tours, briefings and overviews to other departments;
  • Work with other departments to implement proper training during product launches;
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • At least four years of Guardant Health Clinical Laboratory experience or equivalent high complexity and volume laboratory experience preferred;
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Biomedical Laboratory Science, Clinical Science or related field;
  • Working knowledge of CLIA, CAP, NYS and local, state, and federal laboratory regulations preferred;
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite and Internet for business use;
  • Able to integrate and apply feedback in a professional manner;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong working relationships;
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to share and receive information from all levels of the organization and externally;
  • Ability to successfully balance and prioritize multiple ongoing projects/tasks in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment;
  • Proven attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Ability to provide guidance to Education Coordinator personnel in absence of manager;
  • Strong project management abilities.
