Job Summary

Our Senior Data Business Analyst is responsible for working with business leaders and BI consumers to identify reporting and analytical requirements, independently developing business requirement documents as well as technical/functional specifications, and developing PowerBI reports and dashboards to meet these requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Design, build, deliver and maintain world-class reporting for all areas of the business using Power BI
  • Perform data profiling to identify anomalies
  • Develop protocol on how to best filter and variance
  • Participates in business and executive meetings to gather requirements and make recommendations reporting/BI solutions.
  • Translate business needs into high-level technical specifications and design.
  • Develop deep understanding of the various business processes, data sets and BI deliverables
  • Use knowledge of the specific data available, forecasting/analysis methods and visualization capabilities to enhance requirements and provide insightful suggestions to business stakeholders
  • Analyzes data for trends and patterns, identifies problem areas.
  • Creates and maintains documentation that includes the design, requirements and user manuals for the organization
  • Identifying the development needs for the purpose of streamlining and improving the operations of the organization for efficiency and profitability
  • Prioritize, deliver and maintain all Power BI reporting projects for the Office of the CIO, including weekly and monthly reports with trends past and present
  • Assists in the daily support of end-users' ability to effectively and efficiently utilize the reporting platform
  • Manages projects involving data aggregations and custom solutions
  • Collaborates with team members for the purpose of collecting data and executing the company's mission

  • Follows department processes and procedures and makes recommendations to these processes.
  • Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and established policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at the management/senior management level across functional groups and business units

Supervision Received or Extended

  • No formal responsibility for the supervision of others but may provide functional advice or training to less experienced team members
  • Guides and advises less experienced analysts, as needed

Knowledge and Skills/Technology Used

  • Advanced degree (preferred)
  • 5+ years in an analytical position
  • Working knowledge of BI and data warehouse concepts and terminology
  • Experience building complex reports in Power BI, Tableau or similar platforms
  • Experience with analytical programming languages such as SQL, Python or R
  • Proficiency with O365 Applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Strong knowledge of the IT disciplines including ITIL/ Service Management/Service Operations processes and metrics
  • Ability to follow and develop data metrics and audit procedures
  • Strong analytical and product management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
  • Strong business acumen
  • Experience integrating new software and programs to data services
  • Capable of prioritizing multiple projects while still achieving deadlines
  • Excellent analytical skills to determine root cause of problems and apply creative/effective solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and experience interfacing with clients, vendors and offshore partners
  • Understand of current data protection and privacy laws
  • Effectively manage multiple tasks, respond quickly to emergent problems, and focus both on long-range projects and immediate tasks
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Detail-oriented person who is passionate about quality and enthusiastic about new technology

Priority consideration for candidates with any of the following background:
  • Prior experience in the real estate, title or mortgage industry
  • Prior experience specifically using Power BI to build complex, interactive reports
  • Prior experience publishing Power BI reports to the Power BI service for reporting consumers
