Job DescriptionJoin the Clean Energy Revolution!The Senior Financial Risk Analyst will be in the Risk group within the Finance organization at SCE. The Risk group identifies, evaluates and communicates commercial procurement risks and recommends and monitors risk mitigations. You will analyze the credit worthiness of large suppliers and guarantors and be responsible for establishing and monitoring unsecured credit amounts with counterparties, monitoring rating changes and alerts on suppliers and banks and assessing impact on exposure and security requirements.A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

Analyzes financial statements and current industry conditions to provide objective financial credit assessments and actionable credit limit recommendations.

Stays well-informed of counterparty, industry, and regulatory actions to proactively address emerging credit risk issues.

Supports the development and operations of company-wide credit risk reporting activities which include disclosures on liquidity and credit exposure for financial statements (10K / 10Q) and SOX controls for credit exposure analysis.

Calculates mark-to-market (MtM) for all commodity transactions to track risk exposure. Independently analyze MTM data and provide explanations for quarter-end financial reporting.

Identifies and supports the implementation of continuous improvement opportunities to improve the credit assessment framework, streamline the process, and support the development and maintenance of documentation describing credit assessment process.

Responsible for maintaining and overseeing the credit risk management system and verifying the accuracy of credit and liquidity exposure

calculations and data integrity. This includes liaising with IT to ensure issues are addressed efficiently and expeditiously.

Works in a team environment collaborating with advisors, contract managers, traders, credit and collateral specialists, financial analysts and attorneys.

Responds to data requests from regulators and auditors.

The Essentials

Five to Seven years of combined experience with counterparty credit analysis, financial/quantitative analysis and/or risk management.

Five to Seven years experience with analysis of the three financial statements and credit ratios.

The Preferred

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.

Completion and/or in pursuit of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Program exam I, II or III, AFP FP&A Certification, or Certified Public Accountant designation.

Experience with energy contracts/risk management related to energy procurement.

Experience analyzing financial data, performing financial research and credit assessments, and resolving risk exposure for commercial or energy contract portfolios and transactions.

Experience using financial data platforms such as S&P Capital IQ, S&P Market Intelligence, and the Bloomberg Terminal.

Knowledge and familiarity with SEC reporting (i.e., 10K and 10Q).

Experience communicating financial information to various audiences, including senior management.

This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
