Pay Range

$148,650 - $200,328 Annually for the SES.3 level $178,410 - $240,384Annually for the SES.4 level

Oracle EBS Database Administrator.You will support the Oracle EBS application and database infrastructure that underpins the Laboratory's core financial business systems. This position is in the Enterprise Infrastructure Services (EIS) Division within the Computing Directorate, supporting the Livermore Information Technology (LivIT) program.

This position will be filled at either theSES.3 or SES.4 level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.

You will
  • Support our planned EBS upgrade project by executing multiple upgrades of Oracle e-Business Suite infrastructures from R12.1 to R12.2 with a focus on reduced downtime and automated & orchestrated execution.
  • Research and provide technical input to help architect scalable, highly performant, and highly available Oracle e-Business Suite instances with disaster recovery options enabled.
  • Engage in performance tuning of multiple Oracle databases, WebLogic application infrastructures, and other associated technology stack components of Oracle EBS.
  • Leverage native AWS cloud service technologies to build Oracle e-Business Suite infrastructure and help automate stack cloning processes.
  • Identify, plan, and apply periodic Oracle EBS and database security patches to remediate vulnerabilities identified by cyber security software.
  • Administer ancillary Oracle EBS applications such as SafePaaS, Excel4apps, more4apps, etc.
  • Provide database administration support to our current suite of Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL Server, Mongo, Casandra, PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB databases.
  • Provide technical, in-depth analysis on overall database management system designs and architectures and provide guidance and expertise in supporting our database services migration to leveraging cloud-based database PaaS services and containerization, including the migration from existing Oracle database technology into other competing database technologies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional job responsibilities at the SES.4 Level
  • Provide solutions that require in-depth analysis of multiple factors, customer needs, industry standards, security/compliance requirements and the creative use of established methods, including attracting and retaining projects, programs, and funding using your technical expertise.
  • Direct technical tasks and projects and/or set broad project vision and strategy; influence technical direction for self and/or others while serving as a technical/project leader on large projects/programs including mentoring personnel and actively recruiting and contributing to the development of innovative principles and ideas.
  • Serve on internal/external technical committees often representing the organization as the primary technical contact where your technical knowledge advancements could have impact beyond the Laboratory.
Qualifications
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Significant experience in administering Oracle e-Business Suite and Oracle databases.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle e-Business Suite installations, and 12.1 to 12.2 upgrades.
  • In-depth knowledge of administering and performance tuning Oracle WebLogic, Oracle Database, and other Oracle EBS technology components.
  • Significant experience in EBS cloning & patching (using ADOP), and building advanced architectures (such as multi-node, PCP, MAA, D/R, etc.) for Oracle e-Business Suite both on-prem and within AWS cloud services.
  • Significant experience managing application and database services within AWS, and the hands-on ability to architect solutions using appropriate AWS cloud services.
  • Advanced xperience with administering Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL Server, MongoDB, Casandra, and/or DynamoDB Databases in and large enterprise arena, and significant experience with development tools and languages, such as Oracle Forms/Reports, PL/SQL, Java, Python, Oracle ADF, and/or JDeveloper.
  • Advanced knowledge of leveraging infrastructure monitoring and administration tools, such as Oracle Enterprise Manager, SQL Server Management Studio, SCOM and/or Icinga, to monitor and conduct alert escalation and database administration.

Additional Qualifications at the SES.4 Level
  • Expert level database administration experience with demonstrated ability to architect cross-discipline technology solutions in a creative and innovative fashion, including serving as a subject matter expert for leveraging cloud services for database and EBS application tier infrastructure delivery.
  • Expert level communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills necessary to effectively present, explain, and advise senior management and/or external sponsors.
  • Expert level experience in enterprise Oracle e-Business Suite application architecture, design, implementation, and management skills required to support large enterprise-class Oracle EBS implementations.

Qualifications We Desire
  • Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Management Information Systems and significant experience integrating and managing application authentication/authorization and identity management technologies with database and application infrastructures.
  • Experience in the development and utilization of Ansible, SCCM, Python, or Unix/PowerShell Shell Scripting for automation and orchestration of database and application infrastructures.
  • Experience leveraging containerization to deliver database and mid-tier services to meet customer needs, and with managing database and application infrastructures within a highly secure and compliance-driven environment.
