The company delivers the most technologically advanced Mobile Ad-Hoc Networking (MANET) solution to multiple markets including: Law Enforcement; Unmanned Systems; and Military, among others. Along with its successful MANET product line, the company also delivers on ground breaking research in the area of wireless data communications. The company has experienced rapid growth over the past 12 months and is expecting the rate of growth to continue with the introduction of new products and services.

The Opportunity Silvus Technologies is seeking a Senior Product Engineer to conduct a wide-range of technical activities relating to product design, new product introduction (NPI) actions, new products and accessory evaluation, functional testing and product validation, conducting/supporting field testing of products and accessories, applications engineering, and related technical documentation activities (both internal and customer facing).This engineer reports to the Director of Products, and will work across multiple departments and teams, including sales & marketing, engineering development and R&D, Sales engineering/product support and production groups. Direct customer and OEM partner interaction is an ongoing activity.The candidate will have the opportunity to have hands-on participation in all aspects of the product concept, design, validation, launch and product life cycles. Technical Responsibilities The Senior Product Engineer is responsible for the following activities, or those as assigned by the Product Director: Creating accessory cables and similar accessory specifications, documentation, and reviewPerform make/buy sourcing research, OEM component/product comparisons, evaluations, and selections, document and provide briefings on recommendations for incorporation into existing products and accessories eco systemConduct product evaluations and field trials for product accessories such as RF antennas, RF power amplifiers, power supplies/converters, networking devices (routers, switches, USB-Ethernet adapters, POE injectors, data converters, USB tactical hubs, etc.), IP based video cameras/converters, GPS/WIFI accessories, tactical/environmental sensors, etc.Coordinating procurement of first article prototypes and test/qualification activities, followed with release activities (including associated documentation and planning) and transitions into production with associated end-of-life activitiesConduct product integration, testing, validation and related activities for new productintroductions of Silvus and third-party productsResearch, review and assess product and interfacing specifications, coordinating with the Product Director and engineering any potential or necessary product changes or adaptations to existing product offeringsSupport product concept research/creation activities and proof-of-concept demonstrations, testing and validation as directed

Qualifications Must be a U.S. person, U.S. Citizen, or U.S. Permanent Resident due to clients under U.S. government contracts.Required:Bachelor in EE, ET, or other relevant fields required.4+ years of hands-on and proficient experience in wireless and radio communication systems and principles: radios (data/voice), mesh networking, antennas, BDAs, and RF principles, including RF signal propagation, RF channel access protocols, link-budgets, capacity planning, etc.3+ years of hands-on, competent experience with IP networking, WANs, VPNs, VLANs, routers, switches, video streaming, networking/routing protocols, etc.2+ years of hands-on experience of electronic systems or mechanical designAbility to create, understand and modify electrical, mechanical, cabling, and similar drawings and schematics.Ability to work independently, take initiative, and effectively interact with cross- functional teams.Strong verbal and written communications skills to effectively communicate with customers, internally, and across the entire organization.Excellent organizational skills and attentiveness to details a must. Also proficiency with PC office applications and mobile devices is required.Desirable:Proficiency with spectrum analyzers, multi-meters, and other RF and data network test equipment and testingFamiliarity with EMC/EMI/environmental standards and testing (commercial, including international, and MIL-STDs)Experience with C, Python, and Linux shell scripting.
