Job Summary The Systems Engineering Division (SED) provides unmatched experience in systems engineering to the U.S. government and to numerous public and private agencies, universities, nonprofit organizations, consortia, and commercial companies involved in the advanced application of space technology. From systems architecture development to system analysis and optimization, astrodynamics, orbital debris, navigation, failure analysis, mission assurance, cost and schedule assessment, and economic market analysis, SED exploits an incredibly broad array of engineering and business disciplines against a diverse and dynamic portfolio of programs and national challenges.The Modeling and Simulation Computing Department (MSCD) consists of a team dedicated to ground-breaking software solutions and capabilities for government and commercial customer needs. We enable detailed and complex modeling, analysis, optimization, and visualization of satellite orbits, system architectures, and engineering trade-spaces to provide customer decision support for the future of space. What You'll Be Doing:- Initiate and conduct efforts to grow and sustain the sub-division's modeling, simulation, and analysis capabilities to support new and existing functional areas, applying leadership and coordination across multi-disciplinary technical leaders, Aerospace Program Office personnel, and external customers
- Partner with sub-division analysis leads to exercise influence on key stakeholders and government customers by leading customer engagement efforts on a range of modeling and simulation workflows within the sub-division.
- Establish and maintain effective and enduring working relationships with key organizational customers
- Mature technical expertise in the department through mentoring team members and directing workflow development
- Develop and present timely and technically accurate briefings and reports that clearly communicate software development progress and provide recommended design solutions to technical leads, management, and customers
- Manage the development and maintenance of one or more corporate M&S tools and associated workflows.
- Engage with software users and customers to refine capability requirements
- Conduct software architecture design and lead the integration of new workflows to meet customer needs
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or other related disciplines from an accredited university
- Professional experience in software development, engineering, mathematics, or other related disciplines
- Proficiency in one or more of the department's core computer languages (e.g., Fortran, C, Python, Matlab, etc.)
- Professional experience in technical writing and technical presentation
- Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary technical teams to successful delivery of complex projects
- Demonstrated experience training and mentoring junior team members
- Experience in designing modern software architectures for deployment on Windows and Linux platforms
- Graduate degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or other STEM-related discipline from an accredited university
- Professional experience with successfully developing new capabilities for analysis tools, workflows, or related efforts
- Professional experience in space-related modeling, simulation, and analysis
- Professional experience in advanced mathematical or physics topics
- Professional experience in modern software development, integration, and testing practices
- Experience interfacing with program office personnel and government customers
