We are looking for a passionate Software Development Engineer to join our new Growth Tech team. Our mission is to combine creativity and data insights to bring entertainment fans closer to what they love. This is an exciting and highly visible opportunity to help grow IMDb's worldwide customer base by providing personalized, locally relevant experiences, focused on enriching the lives of entertainment fans. Our deliverables will directly increase value at each phase of the customer lifecycle from initial on-boarding to long-term retention and engagement.

You will work closely with IMDb's editorial, marketing, social, and engineering teams to implement new features and enhance existing services. Using data and direct customer feedback, you will own one or more key initiatives to help grow and retain our customer base. As an early member of the Growth Tech team, you will have the freedom to greatly influence the architecture and development of complex solutions in all areas of the stack including web UI, web services, messaging, data systems, machine learning, and IMDb's cutting-edge federated GraphQL implementation.

This position can be based in Los Angeles or remote.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • Programming experience with at least one software programming language.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Computer Science fundamentals in data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or C#
  • Experience with AWS technologies such as CloudFront, ALB, WAF, Lambda, Elasticsearch and CDK
  • Experience working with GraphQL, NextJS and React
  • Design and development of high-volume multi-tiered distributed software applications
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Passion for movies, TV and entertainment
