Overview

iDirect Government is a leading ground systems provider to the military satellite industry. We offer platforms connecting a variety of satellite constellations with an array of remote terminals. Terminals are installed on aircraft, maritime vessels, and other ground-based military and government assets. These terminals provide internet and voice capabilities to remote and austere locations. We are looking for a professional Software Engineer, a team player with solid technical skills to add to our core engineering team. Candidates must have a strong technical background and be capable of coming up to speed on new technologies quickly. Good communication skills, great problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both individually and collaboratively in a team environment are required. This is a mid-level cross-functional engineering position, developing front and back-end software for our satellite products on both Windows and Linux platforms. The language for most of the software development for this position is C# and C.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test and integrate iDirect software from requirements to production and commercial deployment
  • Act as a member of an Agile scrum team
  • Assist with estimation of time and effort required to implement new requirements
  • Participate in code reviews and improve software quality
  • Interface and work with cross-functional teams to successfully implement feature dependencies
  • Effectively employ innovative problem-solving techniques
  • Integrate and validate new product designs

Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience in software development
  • Proven working experience in software engineering
  • Solid programming experience in C#, C, and Microsoft Foundation Class (MFC) Libraries
  • Familiarity with software configuration management & defect tracking tools, and peer review
  • Object and Component Oriented Designs
  • Database development: SQL, Stored Procedures and User Defined Functions (UDF)
  • Strong documentation and writing skills

Additional experience in the following areas is a plus:
  • Experience developing user interfaces.
  • Database administration and/or design
  • MS SQL Server (preferred), MySQL, MariaDB or PostgreSQL
  • Visual Studio experience
  • Experience in shell scripting using Perl, Lua, or Python
  • Knowledge of communications and/or networking protocols, TCP/IP, UDP, IPv6, etc.
  • .NET framework knowledge/experience
  • Windows and Linux development environment
  • Working knowledge of Jira, Confluence, BitBucket, SharePoint, Jenkins and Artifactory is a plus

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software, Systems, Mathematics, or related technical field/experience

Clearance
  • Active DoD Clearance preferred, or ability to obtain
