Pay Range

$103,290.00 - $139,128.00 Annually for the SES.1 level $123,960.00 - $166,992.00 Annually for the SES.2 level Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Software Engineers to workas members of the Rapid Application Development (RAD) team. You will design, test, deploy and maintain software solutions. These positions will be within ASQ in the Computing Directorate.

These positions will be filled at either theSES.1 or SES.2 level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.

In this role you will
  • Gather, analyze, and formally document new systems requirements and changes to existing systems.
  • Develop detailed design specifications, schema design and entity relationship models, and test plans.
  • Actively participate in code/design reviews.
  • Apply computer science knowledge in the development of software using industry standard practices and modern programming languages and operating systems.
  • Adhere to established software development and data modeling design practices, in addition to project management and version release practices. Support and coordinate with team management and stakeholders' prioritization of work.
  • Engage other developers frequently to share relevant knowledge, opinions, and recommendations.
  • Contribute to the fulfillment of technical projects and organizational objectives, functioning as a team member on multi-disciplinary teams and participate in the entire software development lifecycle.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional job responsibilities at the SES.2 Level
  • Independently lead requirements gathering, software design, schema development and testing.
  • Apply highly advanced knowledge to use of development platforms and mentoring others.
  • Develop advanced technical solutions to highly complex and ambiguous problems across multiple domains and socialize work of the team and growing visibility within WCI and LLNL.
Qualifications
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience with relational databases, web development, and object-oriented design principles.
  • Skilled in all aspects of software development life cycle: feasibility, requirements, design, implementation, integration, test and deployment.
  • Ability to work independently and/or as part of a multi-disciplinary team environment and resolve user issues, data problems, and code defects.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to find solutions to complex problems.
  • Effective interpersonal and critical thinking skills necessary to contribute to team objectives.
  • Sufficient written and verbal communication skills necessary to prepare, present, and document technical information.

Additional Qualifications at the SES.2 Level
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience with relational databases and modern web development technologies and languages such as Oracle Apex, Javascript, Ajax, CSS, and HTML.
  • Broad experience with information systems application development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary to prepare, present, and document technical information.
Additional Information

Qualifications We Desire
  • Experience with backend technologies such as Node, Spring, Java Persistence Architecture (JPA), MongoDB or Oracle databases.
  • Experience in software design and architecture principles.
  • Experience with data modeling tools.

Security Clearance

This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.If you are selected, wewill initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if youmeet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter.
