In this role, you will be a part of the Workload Management Initiative, whose mission is to make vSphere the best platform to run Kubernetes workloads. You will play a critical role in building foundational services alongside a team of talented and enthusiastic engineers.Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?You enjoy researching and developing cutting edge cloud-native software, you participate in open-source community and you thrive in technically leading initiatives. You believe in agile software development methodologies; you take ownership of your code and believe in test driven development. You are passionate about understanding customer needs and give priority to delivering the highest quality code. You are a team player; you enjoy mentoring junior engineers and a willing learner. A key indicator of success in this role is your ability to understand the operational aspects of a SaaS service (metrics, monitoring, serviceability) and advocate for best practices. You are a problem solver at heart and enjoy decomposing complex problems and identifying systemic improvements in the product. You are passionate about operations and the unique needs of building and running a SaaS product.The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?Work with vSphere with Tanzu portfolio product management and architects to drive development initiatives around vSphere IaaS services

Bring technical alignment among various teams including teams from different business units in realizing the unified vision of an API layer to power modern applications

Design and deliver the supporting infrastructure functions to deliver your services at cloud-scale.

As a key player in refining our operations strategy, you drive improvements with a data driven mindset and are constantly looking for ways to improve and challenge the status quo

Work with cross functional teams to make our infrastructure platform easier, faster and more productive for application developers

What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?Hands on experience with Container technologies (Docker or Kubernetes)

Experience contributing to open source projects

Experience in scalable distributed systems in Go, C, or Java

Experience working with Linux and understanding of Operating Systems concepts

Understanding of complex system design and scalable distributed systems

Strong analytical and diagnostic skills with the ability to work independently
