Success in this role will require you to inspire your team and help them navigate their careers, while also rolling up your sleeves to help deliver key messaging growth initiatives. You will partner cross-functionally, including product, design and partner engineering teams, to make the entire messaging ecosystem successful. Lastly, you will work with your peers to co-architect the future of LinkedIn Messenger and will be a key influencer in helping us further define the who/what/how to make the experience delightful for our members.If you have a passion and track record for building large scale consumer products; moreover, have strong leadership skills, passion for being the technical partner to product teams and a solid software development background, this is a great fit for you.Responsibilities

You will manage the performance and career development of a small team of engineers, and own significant parts of LinkedIn products that require design, architecture, and coding.

You will participate with senior management in developing a long-term technology roadmap.

You will be a role model and professional coach for engineers with a strong bias for action and focus on craftsmanship.

You will work with peers across teams to support and leverage a shared technical stack.

You will manage teams to scale distributed applications, make architectural trade-offs applying synchronous and asynchronous design patterns, review code, and deliver with speediness and quality.

You will develop multi-tier scalable, high-volume performing, and reliable user-centric applications that operate 24x7.

You will produce high-quality software that is unit tested, code reviewed and checked in regularly for continuous integration.

Basic Qualifications

BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

1+ years of experience in software engineering/technical management and people management.

5+ years of industry experience in software design, development, and large-scale software engineering

Experience programming in object-oriented and/or functional programming languages (like Java/Python/C/C/Scala/etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

MS or PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline

2+ years of hands-on software engineering/technical management and people management experience

7+ years industry experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions.

5+ years programming experience in languages such as Java, C/C, C#, Python, Go, etc.

Experience in the design and development of performant, highly available, scalable web applications

Understanding of common performance patterns and anti-patterns in distributed systems

Successful track record of managing small teams of engineers to deliver multiple projects on time and with quality

Active involvement in the creation and execution of technical strategies and roadmaps
