Software Support Engineer

Location: Pleasanton, CA, Hybrid for the contract period and upon conversion can be fully 100% remote.Vaccination- Yes, 2 shots Current Tech stack-previous System is built using COBALT, the long term goal is to move to SQL. Current system is web based they use Angular, Java for middleware and backend. Most of the work includes data migration and new development. VBA (absolute must), Excel, Access, JavaScript, some SQL, debugging experience as they will be supporting day to day Operations and Production support, if they are not hands on they should be ready to learn and pick up the necessary debugging skills. The Team currently has a DBA programmer, when they are not around this position jumps in for support.

Software Support Engineer:• Help administer and resolve applications issues, provide updates and perform root cause analysis• Perform root cause assessment and debug issues on the IBMi Server, and availability of applications• Assisting in training Business and generating Reports for the Business –building out the Dashboards• Monitor system alerts related to application and system procedures and provide services proactively• Assist in building out “System Support Dashboards” which will automatically alert the support team of problems• Install and prepare tools required for proper functioning of website front line applications on regular basis• Administer Web Servers for Client Applications• Administer SCM systems e.g., Git• Administer code migrations in various environments [DEV, QA, PROD] and production outputs• 2+ years of SQL and Relational Databases experience• 2+ years of using a language to develop applications e.g., VBA (Is a must have)• Must know Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SQL• Experience in using version control software such as: Git, GitHub is a plus• Must know a scripting language e.g., VBScript, JavaScript, PHP, Python, Perl etc
