Maxar is currently seeking a motivated Spacecraft Production Project Manager for our Palo Alto office who will be part of a team responsible for the assembly, integration, and test of commercial or government programs.

You are effective interfacing with customers, programs managers, and floor engineers to execute your program on schedule, within budget and with the highest quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute on program to meet technical performance, cost, schedule and risk requirements of the spacecraft through each phase of Assembly, Integration & Test (AIT) and through launch.
  • Identify program demand for AIT resources, communicate critical path implications, to support manpower supply allocation and facility usage.
  • Coordinate inputs for readiness reviews and customer presentations, including with the Production team, Program Management Office and other departments.
  • Report program's performance to plan, including risks and opportunities to spacecraft delivery.
  • Develop and manage daily/weekly/monthly metrics, leveraging real-time data out of production systems.
  • Manage changes to the project scope and project schedule, with consideration for the project costs.
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly reconciliation against labor and non-labor financial forecasts for Program AIT cost accounts.
  • Assist PLEO AIT Director in driving organizations' shift to lower cost, high volume production, and design for manufacture.
  • Closely manage AIT schedule, at both tactical and program level
  • Work with planning to ensure work orders support schedule
  • Work with supporting Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and test organizations to drive readiness of production line assets, including ensuring spares planning and design for cost.
  • Work closely with AIT execution- manufacturing engineers and technicians- to ensure program stays on schedule.
  • Interface with supplier development teams and ensure that your program's goals are reflected by the supply chain.
  • Work with quality to understand key Nonconformance Review Board (NRB's) and potential impact on production.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or STEM field. An additional two years of experience may be substituted for a degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience
  • Must be willing to work flexible and/or extended hours to meet the needs of the role
  • Primarily working onsite, with domestic travel as needed (up to 15%)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel experience

Preferred Requirements:
  • Master's degree in engineering, business, or related field
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), or equivalent, certification
  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and MRP
  • Proficiency in using financial software for planning, budgeting, and forecasting and familiarity with earned value management and work breakdown structures
  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills with ability to distill relevant information for the audience
  • Record of implementing innovative methods that resulted in cost savings to the customer
  • Experience transitioning products from design to manufacturing as part of a cross-functional team
  • Demonstrated capability to solve complex problems with little to no supervision on schedule as an individual or as a member of an integrated team using appropriate problem-solving tools
  • Experience and/or certification with statistical process control such as Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma
  • Hands-on leader and exceptional communicator with a passion for advancing manufacturing process efficiency
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project, or a comparable scheduling software platform

Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate's unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is: $97,000.00 - $161,000.00 annually.
