The person doing this job is responsible for a variety of tasks that lead to a high level of customer satisfaction in the most cost-effective manner with respect and dignity. The primary role of the SLP is to provide quality patient care through assessment and treatment. The SLP under general supervision of the Manager of Rehabilitation and the Senior Director of Ancillary Services has a wide range of freedom in applying individual professional judgment discretion and skill in patient management. The SLP has responsibilities for assigned patients including evaluation treatment planning patient treatment and documentation of care. Therapists are assigned patients ranging in age from neonatal to geriatrics. Assignments are dependent on the specific experience training and demonstrated competence of the therapist and the needs of the patients. The SLP is expected to develop their clinical skills with ultimate responsibility for assuming clincial competency.QualificationsEducation:
Masters Degree or higher in speech-language pathology from an educational institution approved by the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board.
Academic curriculum will include coursework on growth and development gerontology and therapeutic procedures for pediatric adolescent adult and geriatric populations.
New applicants must present documentation of continuing education or experience. Upon annual appraisal must demonstrate partication in external continuing education.
NDT adult or pediatric certification or other age specific continuing education courses preferred for treatment of neonatal and pediatric populations.
Licensure:
Current licensure in the state of California.
Recent graduates who are board eligible will be considered for provisional appointments.
Certification through ASHA for CCCs.
Must maintain current CPR.
Preferred:
Previous experience as an SLP. Experience in health care services is highly desirable.
