SQL Developer: coding business logic into SQL, performance tuning, optimization; financial knowledge a + (debits / credits / journal entries, etc.) The SQL Server Database Developer creates solutions for a variety of business problems. Develops the plan to design solutions, code, and test modifications and enhancements to the existing systems with a high level of reliability and execution speed. Provides assistance to the user during the implementation of the system or the modified solutions. Knowledge of Financial and Accounting business processes strongly preferred

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Role is primarily charged w/ troubleshooting and optimizing SQL code to include data modeling to fix business logic AND reporting issues (in a custom-built ERP where we do accounting / financial functions like debits & credits for order processing, journal entries, AR balance, GL, etc.)
  • Create stored procedures and functions
  • Develop and design database objects, such as tables, indexes, constraints, etc.
  • Perform performance tuning of queries
  • Create complex queries on large data sets
  • Analyze query execution plans and optimize database code
  • Generate code to extract, transform and load data
  • Research and develop new ways to improve existing functionality
  • Maintain and review daily, monthly and yearly for financial and accounting issues and reporting
  • Provide support for internal and external audits
  • Participate in Ad Hoc reporting requests
  • Will NOT contribute to ETL or DW development
  • Will NOT function as a DBA

Requirements - Knowledge and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited university and/or equivalent work experience
  • 3-8+ years of SQL development experience that includes:
    • Experience and strong knowledge of SQL Server Fundamentals.
    • Knowledge of best practices when dealing with relational databases (experience with database design, performance tuning, query optimization, indexes, data migration tools, and data analysis)
    • T-SQL; writing complex queries, stored procedures, and functions
    • Strong SQL performance tuning & optimization
    • Thorough understanding / solid experience with database / data modeling
    • Must be able to code business logic into SQL
    • Previous DBA skills is a plus.
    • Experience w/ accounting / finance operations such as order processing debits / credits, posting journal entries, GL, AR balance, etc, is very helpful.
  • Demonstrate personal initiative
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Industry experience in financial services and accounting strongly preferred
