Description Contact Colleen McAuliffe regarding this opportunity. We seek a meticulous senior accountant to join our client's San Jose, California, construction team. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing key accounting tasks, including recording and reviewing financial transactions, maintaining accurate business records, and participating in the billing process. The position is 100% onsite, located in San JoseBachelor's degree required Responsibilities:Evaluate and approve invoices for equipment purchases or leases. Ensure proper coding and recording of financial transactions related to construction costs Prepare and analyze monthly budget variance reports and financial statements Assist with annual budget preparation Act as a liaison to external auditors during the annual audit Collaborate with Project Managers and assist them with job cost and financial analysis Maintain files of all important documents, such as contracts, invoices, receipts, and bank statements Perform routine audits of financial activities to ensure compliance with company policies, state and federal regulations Track and ensure payment of quarterly and annual taxes. Provide support for payroll processing activities. Follow up on outstanding accounts payable and receivable. Work on spreadsheet and database software for financial analysis, where necessary. Timely and accurate data entry of financial transactions into the company's accounting software. Assist in year-end accounting tasks such as tax returns and balance sheet reconciliation. Ensure timely completion of all month-end financial reports. Assist with various projects as assigned by management. Keep current on changes and updates in financial regulations and standards.Requirements Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a senior accounting role, preferably within the construction/contractor industry Proficient in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations Demonstrated knowledge in handling general ledger and journal entries Ability to perform month-end close operations efficiently Experience in job cost and construction accounting is highly desirable Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a must Prior experience in billing is highly preferred Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required Professional accounting certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is desirable Must be detail-oriented and have strong analytical skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretionRobert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
