Job Description

Are you interested in all things Rewards? And do you want to help cancer patients? If yes, we need your help. Guardant Health is growing so fast that we are barely keeping up. We need someone to take what we have in compensation, benefits, equity, and recognition and develop a consolidated Total Rewards strategy and program.

Reporting to our Head of People, The Sr. Director of the Total Rewards function will champion the overall design and management of the compensation, benefits, rewards, and recognition programs across Guardant Health. This strategic position is responsible for designing, planning, implementing, and communicating a comprehensive total rewards strategy program for the organization that will attract, reward, motivate and retain talent as we continue to scale around the world. We want to ensure our employees receive a differentiated world-class program. This key role will manage a variety of benefit and compensation-related activities including the total reward philosophy across Guardant Health to ensure that the programs remain competitive and conform to the current compensation strategy.

Job Responsibilities

Compensation:

  • Design corporate compensation philosophy, infrastructure, programs, and policies that reflect Guardant Health’s philosophy and growth around the world.
  • Lead the comp reporting to the compensation committee and Board.
  • Analyze and adhere to government regulations, while establishing competitive plans to differentiate Guardant from its competition.
  • Research and evaluate market pay levels and trends and participate in appropriate surveys to develop programs and pay to best attract, retain and engage talent and support strategies and initiatives.
  • Perform and manage market analysis including competitive market position. Establish benchmarking and market pricing standards and develop salary structures for job families. Identify trends and make recommendations.
  • Manage and effectively plan for, communicate and execute on all compensation-related efforts through our annual merit cycle.
  • Lead the annual executive compensation projects such as the annual incentive process, incentive and stock forecasting, and total rewards statements
  • Support employee understanding of equity awards and Company programs and policies
  • Assist efforts to grow and scale the stock administration function, including but not limited to enhancing existing manual processes, automating processes, and evaluating service providers
  • Lead efforts to automate routine workstreams and manual processes to enable efficient, accurate, and timely processing of equity award data
  • Maintain supporting workbooks for internal/external auditors and respond accurately, thoroughly, and timely to auditor requests for data
  • Development and preparation of various presentation materials for the Compensation Committee and internal management committees

Benefits:

  • Set the strategic direction on employee health and welfare programs globally. Benchmark to ensure the plans maintain comprehensive and competitive balance. Advance benefit strategies to align with the business and ensure the right mix and offerings are available.
  • Research and collaboration with health and welfare broker and vendors to improve delivery of the benefits function and identify and implement benefits to help attract, retain and enhance the employee quality of life. Evaluate existing and proposed benefits vendor products and tools for alignment with benefits and wellness strategies and for ROI/cost effectiveness.
  • Develop communication and education for compensation and benefits plans
  • Develop and execute communication strategies that leverage company benefits.
  • Design, recommend, implement and maintain a variety of Wellness program.
  • Oversee of leave of absence and worker’s compensation programs.
  • Oversees and analyzes changes to state and federal laws pertaining to benefits and recommends necessary or suggested changes to management.
  • Coordinates company benefits with government sponsored programs while assuring company compliance with provisions of Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA).
  • Plan and lead our annual Open Enrollment process; including communicating new plans or changes to existing plans by preparing plan summaries and other supporting materials both in writing and for in-person meetings
  • Partner with Payroll to resolve deferral issues on both health/welfare and 401(k) plans

Recognition:

  • Plan, design and implement Best in Class company programs and initiatives including Wellness and Rewards & Recognition.
  • Oversee our Fist-Bump and other recognition programs to engage employees across Guardant Health.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related discipline. Or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in the analysis, design and administration of compensation and benefits programs
  • Experience managing the compensation committee process and reporting is a must-have
  • Previous experience working in the life sciences industry and a fast-growing company that has scaled their business
  • Background and experience growing, developing and building a total rewards culture.
  • Experience with salary range development, job analysis, management incentive program design and implementation, variable pay program design and implementation, base structure, and benchmarking.
  • Expertise with global equity programs, multiple equity award types, and transaction volume definitely preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally, in writing, and confidentially with all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated data analysis, interpretation, reporting, and problem-solving skills. Advance Excel skills a must.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and aptitude for learning new programs
  • Experience developing and presenting analysis, strategy, and findings to Senior Company Leaders.
  • Integrity in business, excellent communication skills and the ability to influence decision makers and inspire team members.

  • CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) Certification
  • PHR/SPHR
  • CEBS (Certified Employee Benefits Specialist) Certification

Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies up to 20 lbs and use office equipment. Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however, there may be exposed to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratory environment.
