JOB SUMMARY

Design moderate to complex electrical and electronic circuits for electromechanical systems and enclosures relating to the VME/VXI/cPCI/aTCA/VPX and ComExpress architecture-based product lines. Perform R&D work to provide component-level solutions for emerging technologies. Will generate detailed specifications, electrical schematics and wiring diagrams to provide optimum solutions to meet customer requirements. Provide technical guidance to less senior engineers.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Will be required to use professional concepts and company policies and procedures to solve a wide range of difficult problems in creative, innovative and practical ways
  • Will work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors
  • Will be required to exercise judgment within defined practices/procedures in selecting methods that will provide an optimal solution
  • Normally receives no instructions on routine work and some general instructions on new assignments

MAJOR TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
  • Identify, review and analyze in detail customer requirements and create comprehensive and optimum electronic circuit design solutions for use in systems, monitoring and other related functions
  • Generate detailed PCB schematics and diagrams for prototype board designs and assume overall responsibility for assigned electronic board projects
  • Work with PCB designers on board layout and oversee the successful implementation of the designs ensuring compliance to high-speed constraints, DFM and cost
  • Interface effectively with customer and vendors during product development phase
  • Coordinate the design and design review meetings with design engineers, customers and Applications engineers
  • Provide continued support for repeat orders
  • Help sales with technical responses to RFP's
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues with prototype builds
  • Provide technical guidance to less senior engineers and PCB designers
  • Other duties as assigned

SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Proven ability to design moderate to complex AC/DC circuits and generate electrical schematics for moderate to complex systems using Altium
  • Good product knowledge of Microprocessors and other chips
  • Solid background in power and power supply engineering
  • Working knowledge of the CADIm/PLM database system
  • Working knowledge of ROI/Manage 2000 system
  • Good knowledge of compliance standards (Safety, EMC, etc.)
  • Proficiency in CAD tools like Altium Designer
  • Altium Designer experience a definite plus
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Excellent communication skills

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Working on CAD system 90% of time, manipulating keyboard and mouse mostly sitting at a desk or workstation
  • Handling/grasping occur approximately 100% of the time. Both hands are utilized when operating computer keyboard and the dominant hand is utilized when completing paperwork. Fine manipulation when utilizing writing tools or keyboarding
  • Lifting/carrying, reaching occurs approximately 33% of the time while performing various job duties
  • Talking/communicating with management, customers, co-workers, etc. both in person and over the phone occur up to 80% of the time
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office environment
  • Additional physical requirements may include: bending/stooping when utilizing file drawers and climbing when utilizing stairs to access the work area

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • BS or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 5-8 years related work experience
