SR MANUFACTURING ENGINEER - HYBRID (Santa Clara, CA)Direct Hire

Job Summary: The Senior Staff Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for all aspects related to the manufacturing test process of products from NPI to sustaining support at worldwide manufacturing sites. As a seasoned engineer, you will work cross-functionally to ensure that the test processes and their implementation in production provide the highest quality of products through optimal test coverage. You will support the test process for worldwide production, providing timely resolution for all test process issues and ensuring the on-time delivery of high-quality products. At this level, you will have the opportunity to use your technical expertise to lead projects that will require process analysis and business implication assessment. Essential Functions:
  • Define, develop, implement and maintain a highly effective manufacturing test processes to ensure product quality, minimize costs and reduce our time to market for new products
  • Work with Design Engineering to ensure that new products are validated, and issues are resolved before their introduction to production
  • Define and develop test automation requirements and validate them before product launch
  • Validate the manufacturing test process on preproduction units and provide data to assess production readiness
  • Document test processes for new products
  • Perform test process gap analysis and drive continuous test improvement
  • Evaluate and optimize test coverage
  • Provide feedback to other engineering groups to get issues resolved
  • Reduce test cycle time by eliminating redundant testing and implementing efficient testing (test scripts optimization)
  • Manage the transfer and set up of new products or new software to a manufacturing site
  • Provide training and documentation to our manufacturing sites
  • Define the test network and test infrastructure at our suppliers' sites
  • Review new software releases and develop solid and robust test process scripts

Requirements:
  • Background in electronics and electronics manufacturing, particularly around methods of device programming (including CPLD, FPGA, Flash memory, JTAG, system imaging, etc.)
  • Experience using GUI-based programming tools, and their ability to be controlled via CLI commands by a program or script
  • Scripting language experience to support existing scripts, and for developing new production programming and test scripts. Experience with Visual Basic Script running in SecureCRT and developing scripts in Perl will be a plus
  • Experience with setting up, supporting, and using Windows PCs as 'test stations' on small/medium multi-switch LAN. Knowledge of Linux servers and network topologies is a plus
  • Ability to specify/develop test-fixturing to aid in the testing of cards, PSU, boards, systems, and other electronic assemblies
  • Background in ICT, Boundary Scan (JTAG), and other automated functional testing techniques would be helpful
  • Demonstrated experience in test development for new products. Experience in test development, test support, and production data collection at remote manufacturing sites
  • Good understanding of BOM structuring and release processes using ECOs and deviations. Knowledge of PLM tools like Arena and Agile will be useful
  • Ability and willingness to remotely support the manufacturing test process at our CMs
  • Ability to work with existing test infrastructure and maintain and improve upon it
  • Good verbal/written communication skills that demonstrate the ability to express ideas clearly and concisely
  • Ability to work under pressure and ability to lead projects that are not completely defined
  • Domestic and international travel will be required to transfer products and provide on-site training at our CMs
  • After-hour and week-end support are regularly requested
  • Willingness to work across time zones to collaborate with teams in APAC, India, and Mexico

Education & Experience:
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience is required; 8 to 12 years of experience is preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
  • Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, complex technical tasks
