Length: 6 months + contact-to-hire perm

Process: 2 rounds: 1st round interview with the hiring manager 30-40 minutes phone interview. Team Onsite technical interview between 2-4 people for 1 hour 30 minutes.

Skill/Job Requirements:
  • BA/BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience designing and developing success mechanical parts.
  • Expert in Mechanical Design, 3D CAD tools. Must be highly capable using SolidWorks (SolidWorks shop)
  • Proven ability to integrate electronic sensors, motors, and motion control components to perform mechatronic tasks.
  • Strong analytical skills including FMEA, tolerance analysis, and statistical methods.
  • Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DSA) and Design for Service
  • Collaboration skills, with experience working with UX and ID teams
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, and producing excellent results in high-stress environments
  • Team leadership skills and interpersonal skills
  • Design Plastics/injection molding, Sheet Metal, Diecasting, or CNC machining experience
  • Experience designing with different materials and manufacturing methodologies such as injection molding, diecasting and sheet metal stamping

Desired Skills
  • Medical device development experience
  • Experience in designing and implementing systems with linear actuators, stepper and servo motors, electrohydraulic systems
  • Knowledge of drawing standards and geometric dimensioning per ASME Y14.5
  • Understanding of mechanical tolerances and GD&T
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PPT, etc.) and industry SW (LabView, MATLAB, Python, COMSOL).
  • Proficiency in a machine shop, lathe, mill, CNC mill and hand tools
  • Experience with the various forms of rapid prototyping technologies, including additive technologies, rapid tooling, prototype injection molding and metal laser sintering

Responsibilities
  • Design mechanical assemblies, components, mechanisms, and highly cosmetic customer-facing parts for mass production. Generate test and manufacturing specifications for these items
  • Integrate industrial design input to produce beautifully crafted parts and user experiences
  • The ability to project manages projects, including interfacing to the client as the technical voice of the project
  • Select and specify materials for components
  • Perform engineering analyses of parts and assemblies (FEA, fatigue, manufacturability, FMEA, root cause analysis, DOE creation)
  • Iterate design concepts by rapid prototyping physical models (3D printing, machining, etc.)
  • Create and maintain documentation of product development (2D drawings, design notes, assembly methods, test specifications)
