Sr. Power BI Developer

The Power BI Developer will be responsible for developing and resolving routine to complex system, relational database and application problems or opportunities within the Business Intelligence environment. This includes providing technical assistance in identifying, evaluating, design and developing reporting solutions. This position will participate in BI projects and cross-functional IT teams to address business or system requirements and/or issues. Additionally, this position will perform system support activities including maintenance or creation of application code, processing routines or procedures and generate reports and dashboards. This developer is expected to adhere to development, maintenance, and system operations standards. This position will be representing the company’s IT department to all levels of the company, including Senior Staff and International offices.

• Design, develop, implement, and support Power BI datasets, data models, KPIs and dashboards.
• Understand business requirements and choose a data model that best fits user needs, customizing when needed.
• Data modelling capabilities including designing effective BI data models in line with the Kimball methodology and best practice.
• Developing calculations in DAX which are accurate and performant on large datasets.
• Designing effective layouts and designs working closely with our digital design team to ensure optimal user experience and that accessibility requirements are met.
• Utilizing the navigation features in Power BI (e.g., bookmarks, drill through) to guide readers through a compelling data-driven story.
• · Publishing reports via the Power BI service, managing them through distribution of apps and monitoring usage/data refreshes/security access for large scale deployments.
• Shaping an approach for governance and deployment of Power BI including advising on licensing, distribution/sharing, training, support, and best practices.
• Work with other analysts and data engineers to identity and understand source data system & business requirements for solutions delivery.
• Have excellent analytical and critical thinking skills for translating data into meaningful visualizations.
• Create and compile technical documentation including unit, integration, and acceptance test plans, support documentation, end user documentation for delivered solutions and other tasks as assigned by superior.
• Communicate status of projects and initiatives to senior team members.
• Manage multiple projects/reporting solutions for multiple business areas.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Ability to work directly with business analysts to transform a functional design into the desired outcome.
• Data model design following best practice.
• Azure Modern Data Platform knowledge including Azure Synapse, Data Factory, Snowflake, Databricks or other cloud technologies.
• Strong SQL, Python, or R skills required.
• Effective communication skills, oral and written including ability to conduct informal presentations and workshops.
• Basic knowledge about connected source and destination systems SAP Query Designer & SAP Analytics Cloud.
• Intermediate level working knowledge with Power BI DAX formulas and Webi Formulas.
• Demonstrate Strong conceptual reasoning and discretionary judgment.
• Intermediate knowledge of an SDLC process.
• Basic working knowledge about SAP, HANA or cloud-based source systems & Python would be a plus.
• Moderate working knowledge upgrade application processes and all aspects of system testing.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related subject, or equivalent additional work experience required.
• Minimum 5 years Power BI development experience.
• Courses or certifications in Power BI or any other analytical tools preferred.
