Sr. Product Manager - TOP MASS MEDIA COMPANY

Location: Glendale, CA (hybrid, must be fully vaccinated)

Contract duration: 18 months

Summary: The Product Manager collaborates with current and future users of next-generation CMS Platform to understand individual brand and business needs and create a backlog and roadmap of portfolio-wide technology initiatives. This includes understanding business workflows supported by the tools, prioritizing bugs and features, and working with several other product teams to ensure critical items are on the roadmap. This role will collaborate with product and editorial teams from Television Stations in order to understand workflows across the entire portfolio and to develop comprehensive analyses and actionable product roadmaps for improving the overall editorial experience. This individual will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, other product managers, UX designers, and engineers to execute against the roadmap and to develop centralized capabilities to be shared across the portfolio. The ideal candidate is methodical and detail-oriented, and can think critically and creatively about the larger picture. This person should be self-motivated and enjoy working independently, while also collaborating successfully with a broad group of stakeholders across business functions. Within three months, you will:
  • Learn the technology stack that powers our content management systems.
  • Establish working relationships with brand and business stakeholders across entertainment and news teams.
  • Begin to understand editorial workflows, CMS needs and contractual obligations for National Geographic, Marvel, ABC News and ABC Owned Television Stations.
Within six months, you will:
  • Develop a roadmap and requirements to transition legacy tools to the next-generation CMS.
  • Offer workflow improvements and opportunities for the news and entertainment portfolio to help drive the business forward. • Develop an understanding of the direct-to-consumer offerings and the ways in which the next-generation CMS can power their continued growth.
  • Have a point of view on which CMS features or integrations the businesses should focus on next.
  • Triage bugs in user workflows across the web, mobile and CMS scrum teams.
Within twelve months, you will:
  • Lead the roadmaps of the news & entertainment CMS products including new feature development, ongoing maintenance, and bug fixing.
  • Be seen as a product leader in the content management space, having delivered high quality features that have had meaningful impact on the news & entertainment business.
Top must have skills:
  • communication- clear concise communication- must be able to tailor to business and to tech audience
  • roles are highly collaborative and will be responsible for driving work for large cross functional teams
  • video side- video player experience must have- ours is a custom player- so not looking for a specific experience in this but this is a must have
  • CMS experience must have- we are actively building out a proprietary system so having either out of the box or prior proprietary system experience is fine- but a must have
  • interviews will be with manager followed by team interview -business and tech teams
