Distributed data and transaction management is at the heart of Amazon Redshift data analytics services and is responsible for delivering ultra-fast, highly scalable and cost-effective performance. We are building and operating large scale, distributed, fault-tolerant data and transaction management solutions using specialized data structures, distributed consensus algorithms, machine learning, massive parallel execution and many other advanced technologies. Redshift seamlessly scales across multiple AWS availability zones and regions across the globe. We are working across AWS in shaping requirements and solutions for next generation data analytics platforms and services. Our team consists of industry leading innovators, with multitudes of patents and research publications in this space. We are a fun-loving team, that is passionate about ideating, designing, delivering and operating data analytics services to delight customers with extreme performance and scalability. We are distributed across many locations in US, Germany, Canada and are expanding in other geographies.

design, implement and deliver state-of-the-art distributed, high-performance data and transaction management processing algorithms and solutions continuously invent and re-architect components and workflows creating new technologies to meet the future demands in data analytics deploy and monitor new features in a highly available and fault tolerant system running in the cloud collaborate with and mentor other engineers, providing technical guidance and helping to build a fast-growing team

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of professional software development experience
  • 3+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
  • 2+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead OR leading an engineering team
6+ years of professional software development experience building large scale, high performance distributed storage, databases, filesystems or related products

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Deep knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals such as, Object-Oriented design, Data Structures and Algorithms, operating and file systems Strong problem solving and excellent communication skills Passionate about writing high performance, testable C code with high quality and mentoring others to do the same Proven track record of scoping, architecting, designing and successfully delivering complex software systems at large scale Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project Experiencing mentoring junior software development engineers and driving engineering excellence
