This Sr. Manager role is part of the Developer Platforms and Experience (DPX) organization where you will get an opportunity to influence, transform, and create an amazing experience for developers at LinkedIn. We are a data driven organization and you will lead strategic investments to make step function improvements in the lives of LinkedIn developers. This spans multiple areas including but not limited to: providing tools and infrastructure that create a delightful development experience; provide and support application frameworks that empower LinkedIn engineers to build member facing products; provide actionable insights that leverage data and metrics; provide tools and data that help LinkedIn teams listen to their customers; and most importantly deliver reliable and scalable infrastructure. You will have the opportunity to engage the industry-wide developer community and contribute to open-source software as well.Responsibilities:You will manage the performance and career development of a team of engineers, and own significant parts of LinkedIn products that require design, architecture, and coding.You will collaborate with senior management in the development of a long-term technology roadmap for the IDE & Languages charter in the developer productivity space.You will be a role model and professional coach for engineers with a strong bias for action and focus on craftsmanship.You will work with peers across teams to support and leverage a shared technical stack.You will manage teams to scale distributed applications, make architectural trade-offs applying synchronous and asynchronous design patterns, review code, and deliver with speediness and quality.You will develop multi-tier scalable, high-volume performing, and reliable user-centric applications that operate 24x7.You will produce high-quality software that is unit tested, code reviewed and checked in regularly for continuous integration.You will set up the success metrics measurement procedures for each of the project & product.You will manage the performance and career development of the engineering teams.Basic Qualifications:BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.3+ years of experience in software engineering/technical management and people management.7+ years of industry experience in software design, development, and large-scale software engineering.Experience programming in multiple leading industry programming languages such as Java, Python, Go, and/or Rust.Preferred Qualifications:MS or PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline4+ years of software engineering management experience 2+ years’ experience managing managersExperience with modern IDEs (VSCode & Intellij) and building Remote Development InfrastructureExperience in standard build tools (e.g. Gradle, Bazel) and version control systems (e.g. git).Experience in the design and development of performant, highly available, scalable tools and infrastructureExperience in driving infrastructure changes across large companiesUnderstanding of common performance patterns and anti-patterns in distributed systemsSuccessful track record of managing teams of engineers to deliver multiple projects on time and with qualityActive involvement in the creation and execution of technical strategies and roadmapsHire and retain world-class engineers by providing career growth, mentoring, and high impact projects, while taking intelligent risks to improve the way work is doneExperience collaborating with stakeholders, internal and external at all levels across the companyExperience managing software tool vendors relationship and negotiating contractsStrong experience mentoring and building teamsSuggested Skills:People ManagementDeveloper toolsCommunicationSoftware DesignCross-organizational collaborationYou will Benefit from our CultureWe strongly believe in the well-being of our employees and their families. The pay range for this role is $175,000 - $288,000.
