Sr. Systems Engineer

Complete Description

• 5+ years' experience supporting hardware and software related to data center infrastructure
• 5+ years' experience administering Microsoft Windows Server or Linux operating systems.
• Experience configuring and managing VMware ESX server
• Experience configuring and managing Active Directory (or LDAP under Linux/Unix), DNS, and DHCP for the enterprise.
• Experience managing Windows Server operating systems associated with MS SQL Server implementations
• Ability to effectively develop, document and communicate technical processes and standards associated with server and related technologies.
• Proven ability to deliver complex solutions on time and to plan.

• Expertise with operational analysis and project management
• Experience supporting an environment with strict security standards
• Scripting Experience associated with implementation and administrative activities
• Experience managing Group Policy to implement and enforce enterprise standards.
• Experience configuring and managing storage technologies including NetApp and Pure Storage Systems
• Proven ability to contribute to architectural definitions in the areas of virtualization and server technologies
• Experience managing Microsoft Exchange Server
• Experience managing public or private cloud solutions, preferably Office 365 and Azure.

• Manages and tunes platforms to ensure expected availability, performance and security levels are achieved.
• Maintains overall system compliance with information security policies and procedures
• Supports annual security accreditation, and maintains security levels throughout the year
• Designs, develops, and implements configuration settings for all systems to meet security requirements.
• Serves as technical subject matter expert for the resolution of issues related to private or hosted infrastructure.
• Represents IT's interests and concerns on complex projects through the lifecycle of a project, and escalates concerns to management as necessary
• Plans, schedules, and communicates system changes to other team members prior to implementation.
• Works towards cost effective solutions and enhancements to optimize functionality within the system.
• Researches options, performs cost benefit analysis, and develops written recommendations
• Oversees the installation, maintenance and performance metrics (up-time, adherence to Service Level Agreements) for computer systems.
• Installs and maintains computer systems and equipment and insures that systems perform in a manner which meets business needs and objectives
• Assists with development and implementation of best practices, policies, processes and procedures for the IT Systems group.
• Manages complex Group Polices and maintains high-level security standards.
• Maintains documentation on systems, processes, and procedures
• Utilizes performance metrics software to monitor systems
• Assist with the Architecture of all Storage Systems in the upgrade and transformation of current legacy Storage Systems.
• Lead/Assist with the Architecture, Design, Implementation, Migration and Day-to-Day Support of all Systems.
• Participates in day-to-day support of the systems environment ensuring the system hardware, operating systems, and software systems are optimally performing and secure.
• Provides support and general maintenance of server hardware and software including contacting vendors and manufacturers.
• Regularly monitors and tunes server infrastructure for performance and capacity.
• Ensures all servers are designed to perform with optimal performance and availability and maintains overall health of systems.
• Performs other duties as assigned

• Technical Certifications:
• Certifications in any of the following; Windows, VMWare, NetApp, Pure Storage, or Brocade (preferred).

• Education:
• Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university (preferred)
• 5 years related experience in tier 1 systems architecture, implementation, support and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
