Staff Accountant

Based in the Emeryville, California region, this company offers an engaging and mulit-faceted short-term contract / temporary opportunity where effort is rewarded. In this role, the Staff Accountant is in charge of preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. This position will require a time commitment, since it produces Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. You will also be in charge of many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You will also communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, play an active role in compliance, and review schedules for the reporting processes.What you get to do every day

Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed

Aid in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

Manage capital lease and monthly payment schedules

Be responsible for account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, payroll, and other assignments

Conduct month end close, journal entries, without supervision

Offer descriptions of a large number of financial data and communicate insights in a useful and understandable manner

Be a part of various initiatives spanning multiple departments

Partake in annual closing processes

Be responsible for analysis of income statements and balance sheets and communicate findings to management

Keep up fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation Requirements - Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity

BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

Recent and relevant accounting experience

Spreadsheet and database capabilities

Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems

Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills

Competent with spreadsheets and databases

Demonstrated analytical abilities, tendency to quickly connect dots and surmise logical outcomes

Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines

Proficient in ERP systems

Command of general ledger

Deep understanding of Microsoft Excel

Inventory Accounting experience

Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
