Staff Accountant

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant based in Mission Viejo, California. In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of accounting duties including payroll processing, maintaining spreadsheets, and managing cash flow. You will also be required to have a strong understanding of General Ledger and QuickBooks as all our accounting processes are carried out in this software.Responsibilities: Manage and submit candidates for background checks and enter new hires into our accounting system. Review timecards and upload into our payroll system for processing. Use existing spreadsheets and update them for routine functions. Confirm daily funds collected match the bank. Have knowledge of how to maneuver in QuickBooks, do Journal Entries, and Pull Reports. Process and monitor all account reconciliations. Perform general accounting tasks, including posting and processing journal entries. Ensure all payments are completed on time (including accounts payable and bank deposits). Conduct regular ledger preparation. Assist in managing budget and financial management. Requirements Proficient in account reconciliation and related accounting activities Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Proven experience as a Staff Accountant or similar role Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Excellent skills in MS Excel and accounting software Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills Excellent numerical skills and ability to spot inaccuracies Ability to handle confidential information Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously Possess a strong ethical foundation in business practices Willingness to continually update skills and knowledge as required by the role Ability to problem-solve and think critically in a variety of situations.
