AWS Config continuously monitors and records AWS resource configurations and allows them to automate the evaluation of recorded configurations against desired configurations. Customers can review changes in configurations and relationships between AWS resources, dive into detailed resource configuration histories, and determine overall compliance against the configurations specified in their internal guidelines.We are looking for a passionate Systems Development Engineer who will work with an outstanding development team to create high scale distributed services that expand the reach and functionality of Config. The ideal candidate must be detail oriented, have superior verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, able to juggle multiple tasks at once, able to work independently and can maintain professionalism under pressure. You must be able to identify problems and implement solutions that detect and prevent outages. You must be able to accurately prioritize projects, make sound judgments, work to improve the customer experience, and get the right things done.You should be invested in helping our enterprise customers enforce IT policies and best practices across their applications on AWS and beyond, understanding that it is important to pair infrastructure with the ability to properly manage it at scale. Most importantly, you should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where delivery of new products and features is very rapid. AWS Config is one of the most critical requirements for large enterprises moving to AWS.Work/Life BalanceOur team puts a high value on work-life balance. Most days, our entire team is co-located in the Seattle office, but we’re also flexible when people occasionally need to work from home. We generally keep core in-office hours from 10am to 4pm. About half of us come in earlier and the other half of us stay later.On-Call ResponsibilityThis position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week every two months. We don’t like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our systems are fault tolerant. We ship frequently in order to delight and meet our customer needs.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS· Programming experience with at least one modern language such as C, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby· 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience· 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.· Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline.· 1+ years industry experience as a Software Engineer or Software Developer. Full stack experience is a bonus.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS· Experience supporting a 24x7 Internet-oriented production environment· Demonstrable expertise around specifying and utilizing system health, performance monitoring tools, and software management tools for 24x7 environments· Familiar with the challenges surrounding efficient operations and failure mode analysis in large complex systems· Excellence in technical communications with both technical and non-technical peers· Strong sense of ownership and driveAmazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
