POSITION SUMMARY:
  • The Systems Admin / Engineer is responsible for managing and troubleshoot large complex systems consisting of a combination that may include servers, storage arrays, and the physical and logical components that integrate these systems together. In this function, he / she is responsible for reliable and secure performance of the enterprise.
  • The Systems Admin / Engineer demonstrates sound understanding of vendor specific best practices to manage and monitor a secure computing environment, while meeting or exceeding service levels or designed performance metrics.
  • The Systems Admin / Engineer manages all related infrastructure including datacenters, servers, storage arrays, backup, and business applications in physical or virtual form, for both on-prem or cloud solutions.

INITIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage and support server infrastructure including related technologies such as compute, storage, backup, public cloud, Identity and Access Management.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Maintain and optimize our current Cloud solution implementations (Azure AD / Azure Site Recovery)
  • Advanced understanding of high availability designs for all equipment.
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
  • Configure, install, and troubleshoot complex Windows Server environments including virtualization technology such as Hyper-V, Failover Clustering, System Center Operations Manager and Virtual Machine Manager.
  • Monitor daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media.
  • Provision and maintain remote services such as Microsoft Remote Desktop Services.
  • Assure ITIL compliance including inventories, documentation and change management processes.
  • Provide recommendations for improving the network environment and server infrastructure.
  • Work closely with business units to provide input and leadership from a technical perspective.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule that allows for after hours and weekend work. Participation in after-hours standard maintenance of Windows operating systems.
  • Interface with the Desktop team and provide Level 3 Support.
  • System Engineering support to remote offices which may require travel (up to 10%).

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a relevant subject matter preferred.
  • 3-7 years of Systems Administration experience to include some Systems Engineering experience that includes:
    • 1+ years of recent or current experience working in an enterprise windows environment a plus.
    • 3-7 years of provisioning Windows Servers (installation, upgrades, & patching)
    • 2-5 years of virtualization / hyper-visor experience w/ Hyper-V is a plus.
    • 1-3+ years of backup experience w/ Veeam preferred
    • Active Directory / Azure Active Directory experience including group policy
    • AzureSite Replication experience strongly preferred
    • Storage experience is a plus, Nutanix an even bigger plus.
    • Strong familiarity with automation tools required.
  • Basic project management skills.
  • Excellent hardware and software troubleshooting experience.
  • Willingness to learn new software, hardware, and technologies.
  • Adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  • Acute attention to detail.
  • Ability to absorb and retain information quickly.
  • Willingness to work outside of business hours on weekdays and on weekends to support the environment.
