Description We are looking for a Tax Accountant to join our team in the Oil & Gas - Field Services industry, located in Newport Beach, California. This role involves preparing tax returns, reconciling tax records, and assisting in managing domestic and foreign tax audits. Responsibilities: Prepare tax returns and workpapers, coordinating with third-party tax advisors to ensure timely filing and payments Assist in preparing quarterly and year-end income tax provisions Reconcile monthly sales and use tax records, ensuring proper sales and use tax are billed to customers or accounted for in project forecasts Monitor the expiry dates of tax exemption certificates, obtaining updated certificates from customers before the expiration date Assist with miscellaneous tax and business filings Research various tax matters and make informed recommendations Collaborate proactively with other departments to ensure accurate and efficient handling of tax-related matters Handle month-end financial close, including reconciliation and analysis of general ledger tax accounts Prioritize multiple tasks/projects, maintaining responsibility for own actions and performance Use accounting software systems and other related tools efficiently for bookkeeping and auditing functions. Requirements Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is required. Experience with ADP - Financial Services is necessary. Familiarity with CaseWare software is a plus. Knowledge of CCH ProSystem Fx and CCH Sales Tax is essential. Ability to perform Accounting Functions accurately and efficiently. Experience in Auditing within the Oil & Gas industry is highly desirable. Must be able to perform Bookkeeping Functions with high attention to detail. Understanding of Compliance regulations in the Oil & Gas industry. Exceptional Customer Service skills are required. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the Oil & Gas industry. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Strong understanding of tax codes and laws. Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information. Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work. Confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive financial information.
