We are looking for a seasoned Software Development Manager to lead the development of observability solutions (granular insights into metrics, traces, and logs). A successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of outstanding engineers working to deliver new service features.AWS has a fast-paced environment where we “Work Hard, Have Fun, Make History”. On a typical day, our software engineers might deep dive to root cause a customer issue, release the latest new feature, consult with the top engineers at Amazon, or discuss radical new approaches to building and operating at scale. In this role, you will hire and develop a team of talented engineers to build modern observability solutions. You will be positioning AWS as a thought leader in related projects by collaborating and engaging closely with the community, working with and contributing to projects such as Prometheus, Cortex, and Thanos. We don’t like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our systems are fault tolerant. Experience in partnering with product and program management teams

3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent)

Experience with agile software methodologies.

Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSOne or more of the following are preferred:Experience running and maintaining a large scale, 24x7 service-oriented production environment, preferably across multiple centers.

Experience with CNCF projects such as Kubernetes, Prometheus, Grafana, and Jaeger.

A passion for people management and mentorship

Hands on experience with professional software engineering practices & best practices for the software life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, control management, build processes, testing, and operations
