The Technical Specialist I researches, evaluates, and recommends the proper use of current information technology including, but not limited to, relatively complex arrays of hardware, operating systems, applications software, networking protocols, client/server configurations, desktop management, messaging systems, databases, etc., that form the foundation of systems and toolsets used by Ambulatory Affiliate users. Stays abreast of information technology developments, provides opinions on emerging technologies, and aids in practically adopting technology and incorporating it into existing systems and procedures. Leads or participates in projects involving technical components or technological risk.

  • Manage all or portions of large and small technical projects to ensure achievement of objectives, timetables, budget, and overall success.
  • Actively participate in assigned projects as a team member and technical advisor to ensure proper and optimum use of complex information technology, and overall project success.
  • Solve or attempt to solve technical problems, identify technical barriers, and clarify technical debates to aid or speed problem resolution and project completions.
  • Identify and track emerging technologies so as to understand, recommend, use, or evaluate technologies that may be relevant to achieving, operational, cost, and/or competitive advantages.
  • Undertake ad-hoc assignments as required to react quickly and positively to new or emergent situations.
  • Complies with all Policies, Procedures and Standards including: Project Management tools/methodologies, Network/Systems/Workstation Security, HIPAA Privacy and Security Regulations associated with Electronic Protected Health Information (ePHI).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • In-depth, broad understanding of key information technologies.
  • Five years experience as a technical specialist or equivalent experience.
  • Highly analytical, creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Three years of significant and successful project management.
  • Good communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Good leadership, supervision, and teamwork skills.
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Information Systems, Engineering, and/or technical certification(s) desirable.
