DESCRIPTION:For one of our global clients, we have an immediate need for Two Electrical Engineers (

one at Senior Level) to be based in San Jose, CA,

ROLE:

As a member of the Electrical & Firmware Engineering Team, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of electrical subsystems for medical devices and instrumentation. Successful candidates will thrive on applying engineering problem-solving skills to the PCBA and other electrical work in an interactive and collaborative development environment where overcoming technical challenges is routine. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be providing technical leadership and having a significant impact on corporate products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely and multi-functionally with the project team, including mechanical and system engineering, firmware engineering, test engineering, quality, and others to develop and implement PCBA, FPGA, and other electrical subsystem solutions to meet product requirements and written specifications.
  • Drive development efforts from concept to implementation to production release
  • Provides technical leadership and mentoring across the organizations
  • Perform development work independently with minimal supervision required.
  • Generate documentation to support regulatory filings and internal reports and specifications.
  • Supports the work in formal Verification and Validation activities.
  • Provide R&D input on CAPA reports and post product release support to corporate locations.
  • Follow design, quality, and safety guidelines based on GMP, FDA, and ISO guidelines and related corporate Quality and Safety Standards and Practices
  • Understand business goals and link them to design directions and product architecture and promote short-term solutions that support long-term product vision and strategies.

CANDIDATE:

You must be a talented and experienced electrical engineer with significant experience developing system level PCBAs comprising both analog and digital circuitry. You thrive in a team environment and are excited to work in the medical device industry because you realize that your work will positively impact patients’ qualities of life. You are able to handle multiple, on-going projects and are comfortable dealing with different prioritizations.

Qualifications:
  • 3+ to 5 years of experience (

    8+ years of experience for Senior level role), Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Track record of successful design and production release of multi-layer PCBAs using industry standard schematic collection and PCB layout tools, PADs experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with FMEA, DFM, DFT, and DFR techniques
  • Strong system architecture experience. Able to propose multiple architectures and articulate the tradeoffs.
  • Strong analog and digital design skills.
  • Demonstrated good understanding of the component selection process.
  • FPGA development experience. Xilinx Vivado a plus
  • Experience designing PCBAs incorporating complex, high-density, digital devices such as FPGAs and microcontrollers, as well as mixed mode devices such as SERDES, PLLs, and ADCs
  • Experience with successful design of PCBAs having high speed chip-to-chip and board-to-board serial links.
  • Verilog or VHDL, SPICE simulation experience.
  • Methodical approach to board bring up and troubleshooting firmware/hardware interfaces using test equipment such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and debuggers.
  • Familiarity and experience with the use of Agile/Scrum methodologies and Issue/Task/Bug tracking systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in cross-functional and cross-geographical multi-disciplinary teams
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Manages time effectively and efficiently and able to context-switch as necessary to deal with new issues.
  • Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to bring clarity to ambiguous situations.

DESIRABLE:
  • Board level model creation using system verilog
  • Photo-detector (APD, PMT, SPAD) interface circuit design experience strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Firmware implementation and creation. C, C experience a plus.
  • Experience with working in a regulated industry strongly preferred.
