About the Role:

The Product Design Rese arc her is the inspirational force behind the Design team consulting with the Liquidity Solutions team. You will be a part of a foundational team helping SVB to innovate new client services and solutions to manage their operating and investment cash .

  • Serve as creative researcher who is deeply passionate about design, product, and the end-to-end user experience
  • Break down complex problems and provide human-centric solutions through excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Work independently, quickly, and reliably in a fast-paced, creative environment with a keen attention to detail
  • Communicate effectively and have done rigorous, creative, impactful primary research; be comfortable in a fast-moving, collaborative organization, and be excited to collaborate with cross functional partners.
  • Drive organizational influence through a people-first lens and thrives in a growth-mindset culture.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of SVBs LM products and services and how they are delivered through a cultivation un d erstanding of user needs, behaviors and motivations
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners (product management, data science, analytics, business, design, engineering) to identify and prioritize knowledge gaps in our understanding
  • Engage with colleagues from other teams to ensure that a design thinking / strategic design approach is understood, adopted, internalized and effectively leveraged
  • Design and execute end-to-end custom primary research using a wide variety of methods, and interpret analysis through the lens of business impact, UX, HCI, and social science
  • Adapt methods to the research question at hand using a range of methods, weave together qualitative and quantitative insights for data-informed understanding
  • Generate and communicate insights that shape how product teams think about medium and long-term product strategy
  • Communicate results and illustrate suggestions in compelling and creative ways

What you'll bring
  • BA and/or Advanced Degree in Applied Statistics, Economics and Social Studies, Human Computer Interaction, Anthropology, Mathematics and Statistics, Psychological Statistics, Psychology, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in applied product research and a portfolio of work that includes examples of leading strategic research with significant business outcomes
  • Expertise in qualitative and user-centered design methods.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, collaboration and time management skills
  • An understanding of strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product phase
  • Experience working directly with designers to develop prototypes for testing and implement resulting recommendations
  • Experience designing participant recruiting criteria based on learning goals to provide to recruiting service providers or internal customer recruiting
  • Knowledge of user-centered design principles, careful attention to detail, and ability to see the bigger end-to-end picture
  • Experience working across omni-channel experiences, including desktop, mobile web and mobile app experiences
  • Experience working in and an understanding of an Agile development environment
  • Experience with survey design and response effects
  • Knowledge in quantitative research methodologies (e.g., survey sampling and design, significance testing, regression modeling, experimental design, behavioral data analysis, causal inference with observable data)
  • Nice to have: Experience with SQL/Hive and/or Python and large datasets (> 1TB)
  • Nice to have: 3-5+ years of experience applying multivariate statistical methods such as GLM, analysis of quasi-experimental research designs with non-equivalent groups (e.g., regression adjustment, matching, propensity score stratification), longitudinal analysis, classification, dimension reduction, clustering, hierarchical linear (random effects) modeling, etc., to people research problems in organization.
